I give up!
The slow-as-molasses situation seems to have more-or-less gone away. In its place, however, is a very strange and alarming situation.
When HD is closed and reopened at some later time, sometimes it freezes. It is open but nothing is moving and the iPAD is completely frozen. After pushing buttons, trying to turn it off, etc. it finally (so far) reboots and comes back up in that strange inverted colors situation.
What in the world? Does anyone know if HayDay is actually damaging my iPAD? Will it get to the point where it just freezes and never reboots until it finally runs out of battery power?
I have the same problem. IPad 2, iOS 9.1, Hay Day starts really show and then when the farm finally shows, the screen turns black and I return to my homescreen. I have about 2.5 Gb of free space, that should be enough right? The problem started after upgrading iOS to 9.1.

I have still the same problem with iOS 9.1
My iPad is crashing after a view minutes Playing Hay Day.
I have had the problem of crashing and slowing on my iPod touch 5th generation (currently iOS 9.1) since upgrading the iOS version to 9.0. Here is a list of issues and resolutions that I've recorded:
- version 9.0
- The game is really slow-acting, no matter what I'm doing
- The game crashes very often (but not often enough to allow me to harvest crops, do farm actions, etc. for ~5 minutes)
- Typing in chat was slow most of the time, delaying about 10-15 seconds
- version 9.0.1
- The issue of slowness is not resolved yet
- Crashing still exists in the frequency of iOS 9.0
- Typing in chat still was a problem
- version 9.1 (current)
- The slowing has been resolved, except for the chat
- Crashing is reduced, but still noticeable enough to annoy me
- Even with the update, trying to type in chat sometimes has lag.
- All of the versions
- Game Center does not connect most of the time
The crashing happens randomly, whether I'm harvesting crops, sitting idle, or just starting the Hay Day app. I hope the issues will be fixed next update.

I have no issues on my iPad Air 2 anymore. However my iPhone 5 still does the freezing sometimes. When I open the game it shows the last picture I left it to but never loads the game and completely freezes my phone. The only way to fix it is to reboot the phone by pressing the home button and the start button at the same time. I did wait once to see if it would ever unfreeze and the phone just rebooted itself after a few minutes.
I'm not sure but it seems like the freezing happens when I've had hay day running in the backgroud for a long time or maybe when I have a lot of apps running in the background. I try to remember to force close hay day and all other apps as often as I remember. It seems to fix the issue. Hay Day won't freeze unless it's already running in the background.
