A question about poison spell after recent update...

"Poison Spell damage now increases to huge amounts and lingers after leaving the spell"

What does that exactly mean? I understand that when a defending troop enters the spell circle i gets poisoned and it will continue like that until he dies, even if either he leaves the spell circle or the spell vanishes, am I right??

I ask this because I used the poison spell against a Dragon and it continued to blink (showing poison effect) long after the poison spell vanished and until he died. But on next attack I used poison on a Pekka and it stopped blinking just after he leaved the spell circle. This looks inconsistent to me...

I'm a bit confused. Can someone put light on this? Thanks!
