    [TH8] Upgrading walls with elixir

Do we have an official statement from supercel explaining why they removed the option to upgrade lvl 7 walls with elixir? I don't understand why that feature was removed. We, TH8s, have a lot of extra elixir that we have no use for.
I am constantly attacking with mass dragons in silver 1 and I'm still sitting at 6M elixir. I think it would be awesome if they add that feature back so that all semi-maxed TH8s could use their elixir.

Yes, there was a super official statement made.

It was: 'Go to Townhall 9'.

Mid-level Wall upgrades using Elixir have become an easy and highly-available place to spend away excess Elixir, which is good for idle Villagers, but bad for active attackers. Our primary goal for Wall upgrades using Elixir was always to give players more flexibility when pushing their Walls to higher levels, so pushing the Elixir option to Wall level 9+ will help us keep this flexibility for the most expensive of Walls while still retaining more Elixir in mid-level battles for when you go on the attack.Note that moving the Elixir option up to Wall level 9 is the only change to Wall upgrading. The prices in Gold (or Elixir) will remain the same.

As you can see from the quote above, it was to create a better balance in the economy. Elixir for level 7 and 8 walls was causing too many problems.

Once you've maxed your elixir upgrades, you could always upgrade to TH9 and spend 1 mil elixir on a level 9 wall for every 500k gold you spend on a level 8 wall.

What are your reasons for staying at TH8? Does it have anything to do with loot penalties? If so, do you realize that by staying there with maxed out elixir upgrades, you're creating a 100% loot penalty for yourself in the form of elixir?

Have you ever heard the saying, "You have to give up something in order to get something?"

The reason is very easy: itīs easier to find loot and easier to save up for the low walls because the doesīt cost as much as the high ones. Also it makes the game harder because more people will be maxed, and the more that gets a maxed base the harder it will be to attack and take the loot from them, so basicly it it ruins the game. High level walls cost from 1-3mil and therefor takes longer time especielly when you have th9-10 because you spend more elexir making troops for the hard defense, and because you donīt find as much loot as th8. I think thats mentioned when you press the upgrade button on the townhall.

A letter from all the TH9s to OP:

    Thank you for the 300k!!!

SC already tried the "let us use elixir for walls" it was a disaster, is only -300k, just wow at how greedy some people can be.

Thanks. That is exactly what I was looking for. I disagree with their response (I have a ton of elixir because I attack a lot, with cheap armies, but a lot not because I am an "Idle villager" ) but at least now I know their thought process.

Thanks again. I'll close the thread as I have got the answer I was looking for.

The reason I'm staying in TH8 is because i want to max it out completely before going to TH9, its just a matter of prefference (I don't care about loot bonus I'm in silver 1, there are a ton of villages there with enough loot for me). The problem is that right know if I get atacked and lose 300k elixir or even 500k elixir I honestly don't care at all and that's the problem. That I would love to give some use for that elixir but I just can't without going to TH9 which I don't want to as I mentioned above.

    Anyway, thanks for your answer.

I'm a near maxed th 8, only 14 walls and a few gold upgrades left. My DE and elixer upgrades were done months ago. As a result my DE and E are full. I won't hit th9 until I am fully upgraded, so I do nothing but war attacks. This is your opportunity to get good at Gowipe, Dragaloon and using hogs for war.
