New Poison spell update! Will it change anything??

    Im not convinced.
Wizards/Witches etc will only die quicker, and dragons/loons etc will still take a long time to die...

    Or am i missing something?

This was my first thought, well apart from wizards and witches dying quicker - they actually take longer to kill, with damage ramping up instead of it being constant.

However I still don't think this will affect Clan Castle diversity. Most people lure then kill them on the spot before deploying troops, so...
What is this that I feel and what is this that I fear?

It will make the choice of troops more diverse again but only because you can pretty much kill any of them now. Before the best troops were generally the ones with highest HP

I find it odd that everybody has become so reliant on poison to deal with CC troops. What ever happened to the normal trigger-drag-cluster-kill concept. This is a clever bit of balancing by SC whereby use of poison will now start to put some raids on the edge of the three minute limit if you are lazy on the CC Kill

To my mind, one of the most beneficial things poison does is mitigating the skeleton traps on hog raids - I hope they have not undone that with this tweak
    Town Hall 10 | JTJ |GG 1.2 billion | EE 1.2 billion| HH 8.0 million | Level 172 | Barbarian King level 40 | Archer Queen level 40 | FIN 230000

It's definitely gonna change how strategy of cc in wars. Now we can even get drag to low hp with one poison spell and lava not attacking air. Well, but this updates applies to everyone so everyone get a fair share be it good or bad.

My (incomplete) understanding of the changes to the poison spell is that it will ramp up in damage as troops continue to be in it, like a single target inferno tower. I believe that the amount of damage at the beginning is lower than it had been previously, so I think the assertion that witches and wizards will die just as quickly is only accurate if they're all in the spell's AOE for a fairly long period of time, maybe longer than before? Using a cc with a large diversity of troop movement speed may make it challenging to get the important ones into the spell's radius long enough to kill them.

We'll have to experiment, but I think killing troops with relatively low health who are walking through the spell radius before they get to the other side is may no longer work. The benefit then is that if you can get a high-health troop to stand still long enough to sit in the spell for its entire duration, the spell will do more damage than before.

I'm interested to see what will happen if I drop 3 poisons on a level 4 dragon who happens to be flying directly over the opposing AQ. Could be very helpful.

I think poison spells being the go-to for killing cc troops means that SC knows we'll need those troops for something else... perhaps soon. "Let's give the players a method to kill enemy cc troops without using their own troops, because they're going to need those troops when we introduce X."

We shall see how it plays out, both next update and Oct 24.
If you need to ask "Should I upgrade my Townhall?", the answer is no.

Go watch the videos and time how long it takes for the Max Poison spell to take out skeletons or a mid-level Barbarian. It is several seconds longer than the current form. Whereas currently archers/skeletons etc will die before they have time to walk through the spell, in the future you'll have to place the spell in a position where they'll actually stop moving.

If you're low TH and you normally lure, this won't affect you much aside from waiting those couple seconds.

But if you're higher level / you don't normally lure, this will have a more profound effect. If you drop a poison too early, even some archers will walk through and come out the other side with partial health.

It will change things. Obviously we are all speculating until we get some hands on with it- but I'm already contemplating taking three poison spells to see how they do. And I would say you better not have heroes together in the core. May need to look at spreading them and the CC out just a bit to mitigate damage.

It still does very little damage to heroes
