If you go down to silver bronze league you still see TH7s quite regularly as a TH10 during searching. I'm almost tempted to drop down there and go searching with 1 EQ and 4 light to try it out.

3200 / 4 = 800
3200 - 800 = 2400
4 maxed lightning spells do 2280 damage but 5 does 2850, afraid you will need 5 max lightnings and 1 maxed EQ to take down TH7.

i know it's 25% remaining. so the second eq spell will deal less damage than the 1st one. it's HP x (1-25%)^n n being the number of eq spells to be used. it's accounted for in the calculation

No, you messed up the EQ spell math. It does 25% first hit and diminishing damage after that, making it worthless to bring 3 EQ spells when you can bring 5 Lightnings. 1 EQ and 5 lightnings is better, as even 300 EQ spells cannot take a Town Hall down. In fact, no amount of EQ spells can. 11 only take the TH to half health, while 5 lightnings and a EQ take it to around 1/4.

5500 / 4 = 1375
5550 - 1375 = 4125
4125 - 2850 = 1275 hitpoints remaining
TH9
4600 / 4 = 1150.
4600 - 1150 = 3420
3420 - 2850 = 600 hitpoints remaining
TH8
3900 / 4 = 975
3900 - 975 = 2925
2925 - 2850 = 75 hitpoints remaining
TH7
3200 / 4 = 800
3200 - 800 = 2400
2400 - 2850 = TH DOWN
