Very first thing was that buildings did not regenerate after attacks. So I protected EVERYTHING as best I could and was freaked out I would have to start over after getting hit.
I recall also seeing clan symbols and thinking that every time I saw a certain symbol it was the same clan. I was like geez, the rainbow clan sure keeps hitting my base! Those guys are tough... they have level 3 mortars!!!

When I was a noob, I was flattered that a chick would call me "Chief". Actually, I'm kinda still flattered.
I thought my base was so OP that the attacker would just drop a troop and surrender. Guess nobody told me they were dropping trophies.

I did not know you can remove obstacles and more especially that you can earn xp or gems from them.
In my first attack ever, I thought you could drop a troop and then tell that troop to target a specific building by tapping said building
