I would even go as far as to say over 50% of our TH8 3 stars comes from TH8 GoWiPe so it baffles to me hear that an additional 20 army camp spaces, potential max golem in CC, additional spell (jump) and AQ can't 3 star a TH8.
Only one time a th9 was failed on my base.

    Barch

In all seriousness though, lavaloonion with 2 hounds or flat out hogs should work. Surgical works best at TH8 as there is usually little to no point defense in the middle in most bases, eliminating any use of golems.

The easiest is classic gowipe. You can mess up rather badly and still 3 star a th8. Gowiwipe is a terrible strategy and should never be used at any th level, though it may work a th down, it's a bad habit to be avoided. Gohog, golaloon, laloon, and hog/loon variants work too, but it's an unnecessary expenditure and they're easier to mess up.

Frankly, a th9 failing against a th8 is embarrassing, and you want to cull weak attackers who do so.

Edit: Lemme run you through some scenarios that will ruin an attack on a th9 but still means 3 with gowipe against a th8

    1. All your wizards walk into a giant bomb. Still 3
    2. Your Aq wanders away from the golems and gets killed, still 3.
    3. Your aq or bk are upgrading (not *and*, people with both heroes down shouldn't be in war). Still 3
    4. A well placed tesls wrecks your pekkas. Still 3
    5. You forget wallbreakers. ikr, stupid me, and still 3.
    6. Your spell placement is garbage. Still 3, even with an accidental double drop. Still 3
    7. You forget to clear corner buildings on the side you attack from. Still 3

Also, gowiwi has been mentioned, but if you have lv 2 witches you shouldn't be attacking th8s. And if you don't, you shouldn't be using gowiwi. Sure, it'd work, but what a waste of de for killing a th8.

I have personally done all these things, btw. I never claimed to be the world's best attacker, but my 8.5 can always 3 star a th8. There is exactly one tricky base that can give a th8.5/9 a hard time with gowipe that I have encountered. Only one I have ever seen, and it's not any of the popular ones. And for obvious reasons I will not share that base.

Edit 2: Classic gowipe doesn't need a lure either, so it's that much easier.

    how about a th9 vs 7 now

Only stupid th9s can not three star a th8. We definitely don't need a separate thread for this

I'm a mid-low TH9 and I do nearly all my war attacks with gowiwipe:
    2 golem, 3 pekka, 2 witch, 18 wiz, 7 wbs, 1 jump, 2 rage, 1 heal.
Properly executed will 3 star any TH8 and get 2 on most TH9s with possible three on low TH9.
Edit: don't lure the cc, but do start on that side of the base so you can take the drag head on.

That's probably the weakest army you can use at th9 that isn't barch or giant/wiz.

If a th9 with Max loons can't 3* a th8 they should uninstall. Period. Even with 225 troop spaces as a very new th9 it still is an easy 3* army. With 4 spells and Max loons you have to do something really silly not to 3*. With 4 spells and 250 troop spaces you literally have no excuse.

Standard TH8 gowipe with archer queen and 4 spells is a foolproof 3-star on TH8 unless you really mess up the deployment.

Level 6 gibarch with 4 spells can 3-star sometimes, but I wouldn't recommend it.

We told one of our newer members to lightning the cc....He dropped a lightning spell on the actual cc - no luring the troops or anything. Guess we should have been more specific...

TH8s have 3 ADs at lv6 if they are maxed, LaLoon is basically a guaranteed 3 star if the attacker is even a little bit competent and can press the buttons on the screen...
