I used nothing but Barch to farm resources all the way up to TH8, where I started using BAM and Loonion as well, and at TH9 I switched to GiBarch. I hope I understood and answered your question correctly. lol

when i was th5 my raid army was usually 10-12 giants, a healer, 4 wizards, 4 wall breakers, 10 barbarians and remainder being archers. but this was before the may update that brought in the air sweeper

Pure barbs, barch, pure goblins are all good for TH5 farming

TH 5 does not get a healer nor the air sweeper both are unlocked at TH 6 but this is basically what i used (heh am still using im only TH 6) except the wizards if you attack a lot its not really efficient but fine if you only go after very large targets

I used giants plus barbs and archers at TH5 and TH6 (and some wbs, often also healer).
At TH7 I switched to only barbs and archers - extremely effective, but don't go higher than 1000 cups.
Looking back, I think I should have used barch the whole time.
I bring healing spells (not sure anymore if you have them at TH5). They help keeping barbs alive if they need to rush inside a base, long enough to get to the mortar.

Yeah...gotta say barch, more of a surgical barch worked best for my newest. 3 or 4 barbs followed by 3 or 4 archers on each collector. Maxed my little vega in about 5 days....minus a lab item or two that can waiit for a bit
