I think it would be nice to have some sort of notification that you are selected on a spell. Obviously, you are normally meaning to have a spell selected however I have noticed on my iPad Air 2 that when I am playing there are times that I click the screen rather hard and it still does not select a troop from the troop bar while attacking. When this happens and I still have my spell active; I will typically only waste 1 spell but sometimes I will waste all of them. This will mean the difference between winning or losing in almost any case. I think one of two things would greatly help this problem or possibly even both.
Option 1: Spells are DOUBLE CLICKED to deploy. eg: double-tap the screen over your hog riders to drop 1 heal spell. This could possibly be confusing making dropping troops different than spells; however with any new thing it can be adjusted to with practice. I think this would be the best fix for this since it would give the user a split second to realize they are selected on a spell instead of a troop. eg: I dropped a heal spell in the middle to keep my hogs alive now I attempted to click on my wizards but the screen didn't recognize it, so I attempt to drop a wizard in 2 different places. Since I did not click the same place twice the spell does not deploy and now I know I am not selected on my wizards but instead I am still selected on my heal spell. Maybe even a quick screen corner flash or a small notification popup that states "Failed to deploy" or "Click same place twice to deploy spells" or something when the user does not click the same area twice.
or
Option 2: Have the corners of the entire screen or the spell icon itself on the troop bar flash either white/red/green notifying the player that they are selected on a spell rather than troops. This would greatly help in reducing wasted spells as the player would have something to lookout for when switching between spells and troops.
