If u like war I say u upgrade Golems asap and giants with archers for farming.on the buildings I recommend cc,camps,spell factory, dark barracks.
Troops: Balloons, Giants, Golems/Hogs/Hounds (Giants Lvl.6 will make farming DE a million times easier haha)
Buildings: Lab, SF, CC, Dark Barracks, Camps, new defenses to TH8 level

I'm doing 8.5 right now. I prioritized Giants L6 first to help get me steamrolling on storage raids. I have Balloons L6 going now, working towards LavaLoonion (also great for war donations). After that I will do Archers L6 to keep adding power to my farming composition.
Since you War often, I would suggest focusing all DE on AQ and maybe get hogs to L5 before doing archers. However, I have found that I need to farm more for these TH8.5 upgrades, so archers took priority for me. This also let me focus all DE into my AQ for now.

Obvious. Get your hogs up to 5, then your heal to max, then golem, then loons, etc. GoHo is essential to th9 warring.
