Have you ever tried GoWiPe with balloons? If you can kill the 3 AD in the center with the GoWiPe you can send the ballons in the remaining defenses in the corner, send them in 3 defenses 2 in the sides and 1 in the middle.. It works for me a lot of times

As a new th8 (mini) I use a dragloon while getting hogs up. Usually 8 drags, 8 loons and then either 5 hogs or 5 loons in cc. The ability to target different defenses gives you much more control then dragon spam with loons in behind.

In that case, you really don't have any troops capable of 3 starring many TH8 bases other than ones which have only just upgraded from TH7, or are badly designed.
Your level 5 loons plus minions is probably your best chance, but even then it will only work against TH8 who have neglected their Air Defence.
