I would say yes, i was in a similar possition, had a few more walls done and was bored.

The only thing i would do is UG one more barrack so you have 3 that can make pekka's, going the 8.5 route you will still be mainly using the gowipe in wars, picking off your TH8 mirror, until you have other troops leveled. Just makes cooking an army quicker as 3 pekkas are the norm for a gowipe.

Doing the TH8.5 route youll have enough gold to finish those walls and UG CC easily :-)

Max hotgs bcoz are easy to use with ur xray vision

If troops required for real war attacks are at th8 max and king can be gotten to 10 before TH completes while allowing you time to max out DE to get AQ off to a good start immediately upon reaching th9, then go. 20 extra spaces, AQ, being able to do real war attacks, and being able to use E and DE on upgrades is better than sitting on a ton of each while you grind walls... Getting smashed over and over by th9s that want your DE that you have no way to spend.

In the end, you will see that 500k per skull is child's play with th9-spec raid troops and AQ. Much easier than with 20 less spaces, one less spell, and no AQ.

ur supposed to leave walls for last!
for th8 and under NEVER do walls first! def buildings and offense ALWAYS comes first. walls are more of a bonus. go to th9 buddy

what i did was Upgrade the following ASAP
Camps - so i had 220 army
Spell - so i had an extra one
clan castle - for extra 5 army space
Built Queen - level her whenever you can.

im just mopping up the TH8 for my clan atm, the last war i mopped up a max TH8 with 2 golem, 3 pekka and 16 wizzards. i didnt deploy 12 of them :-) the extra spells, queen added CC space really help

ow and remember not to upgrade or make any new defense to keep your war weight down :-) max all your offenses first, ie troops and things ive already mentioned :-)
