Hi there![]()
This is a guide that shows what we put in our Clan War Castles to counter the poison spell! The poison spell received a lot of hate recently, and I think it is because people mostly don't know how to adapt to this new idea. Clan War Castle Troops favourites have changed multiple times in the past.
We saw the ever so popular dragon in every clan castle about a year ago, people then got used to taking them out, and was quickly replaced by a witch and wiz combo. The poison spell was released when the witch combo was still popular, and that is why it received so much flack. We are now used to seeing drags back in the Clan War Castle usually with some loons in as support (Due to their high HP to counter poison). But this made one big problem, everyone knows how to take out drags thanks to their popularity a year ago.
Even though many people think high HP is the only thing that can counter poison....they are wrong! The trick to counter poison includes different unit speedsSince the poison spell radius is small, you want to make it hard for the guy to take out all your units in one drop. When unit speeds are different, he should decide to either drop poison on faster units that rush him, or slower units that acts like a second wave. This renders the poison almost useless.
Below are the Clan Castle spaces and what we pop in them: (We are a lvl5 clan, so all our CWC troops are maxed)
- 10 spaces = 1x Valkyrie [Fast Speed, High HP, Splash] 2x Archer [Moderate Speed, Low HP, Single Target]
- 15 spaces = 1x Valkyrie [Fast Speed, High HP, Splash] 3x Archer [Moderate Speed, Low HP, Single Target] 1x Wizard [Moderate Speed, Moderate HP, Splash]
- 20 Spaces = 1x Drag [Slow Speed, High HP, Splash]
- 25 Spaces = 1x Drag [Slow Speed, High HP, Splash] 1x Loon [Slow Speed, High HP, Splash]
- 30 Spaces = 1x Valkyrie [Fast Speed, High HP, Splash] 1x Witch [Low HP, Slow Speed, Single Target] 2x Loons [Slow Speed, High HP, Splash]
- 35 = We have no experience with 35 spaces yet.
Now after reading what we put in, let me explain why we put those troops in.
- 10 Space = This combo works great, as not a lot of new players know how to handle a Valk. They usually spam barbs around her, which is a bad idea. She is also great against giants that bunch up.
- 15 Space = This combo works great, as not a lot of new players know how to handle a Valk. They usually spam barbs around her, which is a bad idea. She is also great against giants that bunch up. The Wizard can also aid in wrecking Giants.
- 20 Space = Drag is still the best here, as air attacks are very common on TH6 and 7 bases. A high lvl dragon can hold up a bunch of lvl1-2 drags for a while
- 25 Space = Drag can stop air attacks for a while, while the loon can ruin a GoWiPe if the attacker places his wizards wrong. Start expecting poison spells on your Clan Castle Troops, although it won't do much against a balloon and dragon.
- 30 Space = This is where we mess up poisons completely. The Valkyrie will rush the attackers troops accompanied with the witch's skeletons (this make up the first wave of attack). The Witch and Loons are slow and will hit as a second wave. Keep in mid that the witch will keep on spawning skeletons which act as intermediate waves. The attacker will have to decide to poison the Valk and skeletons, but then the witch remains. Or he can poison Witch and Loons, but then the valk and skeletons cause havoc on frontline.
- 35 Space = N/A
I hope this helped guys!

I hope you can find a strat with a cc with 35 spaces, that would help a lot of high lvl players
