To rush or not to rush, that is the question.

Our clan is at a crossroads. We started as a low level clan,TH6 and lower, and we have welcomed players brand new to the game. We have focused on not rushing and fixing rushed bases for our membership. We found that new players tend to upgrade TH without maxing anything. Best to have a simple message, max everything (Defense, Offense, research, resources) prior to TH upgrade.

Today we have about a dozen homegrown non-rushed TH7's and we have just achieved Level 5 clan. We are reviewing our rules and the question of rushing to TH8 or 9 with the goal of unlocking and maxing troops has come up.

    So my question are...
Is strategic rushing for max troops a common or legitimate strategy for members in a war clan? If so, what are the down sides? Are there high level war clan with strict no rushing rules all the way through TH10?

It is an exciting time for us. I am a little sad, we have decided to recruit TH5 and up going forward. When we started, a week old TH3 could get 6 stars in our wars, but now the Defensive CC troops alone take too many troops to destroy, there aren't enough left for the base. Low level first account holders don't yet have the attack skills to overcome.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Rushing to TH8 or TH10 is generally bad.

Rushing to TH7 or TH9 can be good. In order to make it work you have to maximize offensive fire power, your war army troops and at least some farming troops before "rushing" to the next TH level. There are several good threads about "how to properly rush" a town hall.

Here's the first, and most important question on deciding whether or not to rush.

"How active are you? Can you farm more than an average player?"

Im a strategic rusher and I believe it was a good choice, but I can do 1500 attacks a season. So, it's beneficial to me because I can throw resources into walls and upgrade war troops, I pretty much skipped townhall 8.

most people manage 300-400 attacks in the monthly cycle (from what I've witnessed) and I would tell them NOT to rush. Simply because, to be a good rusher, you have to be really active.

i can go more in depth In that if you want to PM me or Kik.

Also, if you/clan does decide to rush, don't upgrade defenses, stop them at th 7/early th 8, so you don't add extra weight in wars. I'm townhall 9, no Xbows, No townhall 9 defenses, and barley any townhall 8 levels.

What do I do with my resources? Walls and offense. Barracks, Army camps, spell factory, ect. If I'm not doing those, I'm doing my walls.

walls and offense are the most vital things when rushing, not defense. I built my 4th Ad at townhall 9 to stop drag attacks, but it's only level 3. I didn't even build the fourth wizard tower nor tesla.

Why not? Because good rushing doesn't require defenses. If all your resources are in walls & offense upgrades, why do you need defenses? Granted, I upgrade mines & traps because I still want busy workers, but it's always the cheapest first.

Rushing done right is very smart, and saves a ton of time. But do not rush if you can not dedicate the time for it. Rushing isn't for everyone.

Im in this camp, if you max 7 it can make rushing through 8 a bit smoother for a rush to 9. but you need to research which things will but you ahead, and which will set you back.

your Lab in TH8 is worth critical planning recommended things like Barch (farming) Giants/Loons/Wiz to L5 Dragons and Pekkas to L3 , and Hogs to L4 are very worth the time in 8 speed run, as are Rage and Heal (lightning too to be fair). I think those are the critical upgrdes with minion/Golem honorable mention.. (I personally would get Mins to 4 as well)Valks are debatable..but if you have a lot of TH8 lab to do in TH9 it will set back your plans as a 9 ~which is why everyone says max it out~

so that leaves Healer, Gob, Golem* Valk* Minion* Hog* Rage/Heal/Lightning* as potentially less important Lab upgrades on a TH8 speed rush through, the more the better, but you will find at this point it may be worth just maxing. depending on your wall situation..

    Segway
Walls, now to me this is the most important upgrade in TH8 because if you speed through your walls in TH8 is sets you up to have weaker defense turret priority, and TH9 can make up for these defiencies much more easily with a full set of skulls, not to mention a viable resource dump that will keep your base off the radar of bigger (match making mature 9s,10s) attackers. if you have weak turrets and walls as a TH9 you will struggle more IMO, but if you do the walls in 8 (meaning skull walls) then you will have considerably easier time farming up the lower leveled turrets in TH9 IMO/IME

so look up Sservis, Mungo, and SinofDusk's rush threads, they are packed with pertinent info related to rushing through TH7-8-9 should you chose this path.

I have done very successful rush through on my alts so you can send me a PM if the rush threads aren't enough info. Good luck

You have been working together since th6. Give it some time, and you will soon be maxing th8s and higher (we did the same). Rushers in th9/10s tend to stay rushed for a long time. You will regret letting rushers into your clan when you reach max th9 as you can't really kick them any more - you can't do that to loyal but rushed members.
Rushers bring a lot of weight to the war matchmaking. One rusher might be ok and even helpful with the high troops - but with more rushers you will start losing wars against maxers.
