Hogs to 4 and Golems to 2 are a must before even considering going. I am in the same position as you, I am going to grind out the skulls (have 93 left), and finish a couple odds and ends in the lab while that happens. I have been sitting on full elixir for only a week now. I have been donating heavy elixir troops to try and keep it down.

If you feel th8 is boring then you might as well go up to Th9, those lower level dark troops and lvl 7 walls may make it a little more tough for you, but nothing too bad. I had about the same amount of walls done when I moved up to th9, but I restarted walls again at th9, and honestly, it was a lot easier than th8 mainly because it was more fun at th9. But be warned, th8 loot is amazing and th9 loot is a lot worse until you settle in bring your army more upto par. You'll be slowed down trying to push up those walls at th9.

Leave your elixir right beside your TH and give it to the attacker to encourage a free shield snipe.

Upgrade, my base is less maxed than yours and I'm moving up, all my DE upgrades are maxed and I don't want to waste any more DE, so I'm upgrading to dump it into the queen, you should rush.
