There is nothing official. Some people try to figure it out by logging win bonuses for various strength bases, and watching their own wins bonus go up to see how various upgrades affect it.

From what I've heard, people say defense counted for maybe 70-80% of the total matching, though that was before they tweaked it to give a little more weight to walls and heroes, which previously accounted for very little (as far as anyone could tell). It's really just educated guessing, and there are other factors that go into it too, like how long you've been searching. And that's the biggest thing I hear...if you're having trouble with mismatches, restart the matching every few minutes.

What does restarting the match every few minutes do for you?

I disagree to this. Even though im farming walls currently. One thing ive noticed with my accounts is people farm walls mostly after they have maxed defenses for their th level. Since defenses have the most weight once yiu are maxed with defenses its very easy to pull someone a th level above you.
In matchmaking our th10 have not built infernos (we have2) we onky get 1 th10 who usually has infernos but weak everywhere else. Super easy to 2* and usually 3*. My th10 account still has level 1 xbows and almost always draws a max th9.
To everyine who thinks walls weigh too much try upgrading them before defenses at you th level and see what happens. I think you will be suprised with the deference.
Btw its not rushed. I use my builders for elixer projects 1st while all gold goes to walls. The I reversed it. My other th9 account is doing the same and pulls mostly maxed th8's.

I would like to see the actual Weight scale posted for all to see - that way players can decide if its smart to upgrade X defence - or maybe go for Y instead...
    3 stars?

lego and some lavas here, get to face a pink wall th10. Damn infernos...2 star gowipe is best i get if im lucky lol

I agree with you on this. Some of us just enjoy farming resources even when builders are busy (and for long periods of time, unfortunately) and the best way to constantly drain storages without getting them stolen is upgrading walls.

Agreed. After hundreds of wars, I can tell that walls just weigh too much. Please decrease the weight, SC.

I find it hard to justify decreasing the weight of the walls for war matchup without knowing what the current weight is.

We don't even know the other variables in this equation either. How do we know it's not something else or even multiple factors that are causing matchup issues.

The entire premise of matching up two groups of 10-50 people and expecting those groups to be equal is pretty unrealistic if you ask me.

After a certain amount of time, the game will start to search a wider group of clans to match you with. Often this wider group means you get matched with a clan that is much higher in the system then you were but were having the same problem. Thus you get a clan that makes the war no fun for you since you know before you start that if they try they smash you. Problem is sometimes you are the higher clan and people tend to overlook that part of it.

I agree with this an support it completely. As a max th8 with max wall I got paired with a lot of th9s. Some of the th9s had max Xbows and lvl15+ heroes, but bad walls. How was I supposed to attack that as th8? Now as a th9 with half of my walls upgraded to lvl9 I usally get paired with max th9s with bad walls but amazing heroes, my heroes are level 10. There have also been times I've matched against people with infernos. How is a th9 facing a th10 with infernos fair. It's not especially without the freeze spell. Furthermore I think that removing wall weight or decreasing it ALOT will really balance out clan wars. Especially for th8.5s like me.

imbalance between wall price and effectiveness

Agree completely. It's a choice between either adjusting the weight of walls for what they are today (i.e. devaluated due to jump, quake and indirectly hound) or haha... rebalancing.
Rebalancing could be done in many ways, e.g. reducing wall prices to match their now reduced defensive value, rethinking the way they work (like slowing down troops going through earthquake debris or slightly electrocuting troops jumping over blue walls, just spitballing here...)
