Sounds like you are a strong character and I'm sure you can pursued some of the decent members of the clan your in to follow..
When clan leader and co,S start arqueing it won't be long before the clan implodes.
Me and 12 others left our original clan as the leader believed he was " bigger-better- and that the clan was his..He actually was a terrible leader in the fact that he would not listen to anyone else's advice and he's way was the only way was the only way.When actually the only thing he was good at was listening to he's own voice/words.
6-7 months down the line we are a 20 member clan(a few others came over ,5 odd weeks ago saying he had not changed one iota) and while we have progressed, he's clan has just become stagnant..
Make the move , show faith and make a few that follow co's and believe me you will wonder why you didn't do it a while back
