I used giant/healer a lot at th7 to get to storages and still find it useful as a th9.
leagues fluctuate but I'd hazard that silver is a good spot for th7's

10 dragons 4 death loons 3 zaps for an AD
You should try to gibarch in gold 3 or 2.
Just train barbs in one barrack, archers in two and giants in another one. Remember to take care of the clan castle
