Is there an unspoken rule about Town Hall traps?

Ok- so I am one of the guys who occasionally will put teslas and bombs around my exposed town hall to see if I can get some trophies. On more than one occasion, my attackers will destroy my town hall and then proceed to draw out and kill my cc troops for apparently no reason and then resign. Is this a common way of saying 'screw you' for trying to get me?

To be honest, only noobs trap their TH. It takes less than 60 lv7 Barbs to wipe out 4 max teslas & Th10

It's quite common for players to do this to you, since you have your TH out and you have it trapped. Having the TH outside is meant to be a way to benefit both parties, you receive a free shield to protect your loot, and they receive a few trophies to help them push. Usually it's a win-win, but when you trap it, you break the "code" and therefore players will mess with you by killing cc & heroes, or just intended to snipe you but in stead they'll all-out raid you.

If you want trophies then put your TH in the walls, or protect it on the outlying edge of the base. snipers will pass you along.. plus people dump trophies on me all the time this way, its is not misleading..

The point that makes people furious is you are giving them a false signal. an exposed TH away from all other defenses "un written' means, "Please take this win/trophies and loot bonus, and in return I get a 12hr shield to protect my loot in my storages, My CC troops and re-arm costs" as well as keep my place in my league to an extent.

because typically the attackers are just league farming, or collecting 'easy trophies' in between large attacks. and the 'shield code' is a means of offering shields for loot bonuses very cheaply for advertised farmers. win/win..

I used to get all Rage-Head about it too, unleash full army Royals, spells.. no mercy! all that.. but then I realized, hey.. this clown is a troll, Ill get my trophies anyhow on the next exposed TH and when my full army is done cooking (depending on where I am farming) minus ~30 trophies is 4-5 more exposed THs to recover from.. not a big deal, but now I am more apt to sniff for traps and Kill your Royals if they are in range to give you a little something to think about for trying to trick me.

its like this; I was going to be nice and shield you, and move on... but instead you were a jerk-face and dont want an easy shield obviously..so I reconsider my motive.. and Ill take a stab at that loot, or set off those traps and attack Royals for my 'troubles' ..since I wont get the easy loot bonus/trophies you were 'advertising'.. and if Im going to lose trophies because of your little deception trick, I feel like you need to lose something too... (CC, Royals, Loot etc) see how that works? a trick for a trick

i kill heroes,cc, and activate at least 8 traps...

With the new posion spell , it is fun to do it, sometime i also kill the heros or take all looot and leave the village at 39%

why leave it at 39% since you have already given him shield?

If it is trophies you want, put the town hall inside the base.

An exposed town hall is left on the outside for the purpose of getting a free shield and hopefully protect the rest of the base. One could see this as a favour done by the sniper, so if you then put defensive items around it to make that job harder, of course you will have to expect to be "trolled" back.

Yep, plenty of people do it. I'll set off all possible traps, pull CC, kill them and kill heroes.

And, leave at 39%! They trapped so they would have a funny replay to watch...when i do the above, guess who got the laugh, me!! Hahaha!

The best part, by the time i get to watch the replay, i am laughing more cause you know someone raided not long after me cause there was no shield!! Keep trapping busters, keep trapping!! Haha!!

First of all, thank you for posting this today. My life would genuinely be incomplete without a daily thread topic about trapping an exposed TH.

There is no rule spoken or unspoken regarding this subject. As they say "All's fair in love and war".

I see a lot of people saying they will "wreck" anyone who traps their town hall and while that may be the case, the people of the forum are a relatively small and skewed sample of the overall clash community.

I say trap it don't trap, do whatever you want. Try it for yourself and see if you get good or bad results from this strategy.
