    An Idea for Matchmaking

    Why do we not match in the clouds in the same way that we match in war? Through the matching of off/def weight?

    Premise: We are matched by trophy count (its a stretch, and sometimes it doesnt seem so, but we are)

    Trophy Count is a measure of skill attacking (which isnt exactly true due to snipes and dropping trophies willingly, but for the sake of argument, lets say so)

    Soooooo....what logic is it that an attacker and defender are matched on the defenders attack skill?

    Its really stupid when you think about it, and yes, there are defensive trophies, but why not take that idea further? Can we match aggregate off/def trophies? Why not?

    Because we totally need th8.5s having advantage over pushing. All the people who max their villages are stupid cuz they maxed.

    This is a bad idea because:


    1. Currently, there is a point to upgrading your base - to grow stronger. But if we were always matched with an equal opponent no matter what, what would even be the point in upgrading?
    2. Currently, completing any upgrade (besides the town hall itself) can potentially help you with no drawbacks. But if we were always matched with an equal opponent no matter what, you'd have to be extremely careful as to which upgrades you complete, and in which order. Players who chose the wrong upgrades would be penalized severely, with possibly no hope of ever recovering in some cases.
    3. Strength-based matchmaking would divide all players into two groups: the players with a huge advantage by gaming the system, and the players with a huge disadvantage that try to play "normally."
    4. Strength-based matchmaking would render trophies and leagues obsolete.

    Nobody would build defenses and focus only on offense. It is good the way it is. You get an advantage by upgrading but this gets reverted by going to the next th level so it does not get too easy or too hard for the lower (also not so skilled) players. I dont want a situation where you have to max all your walls each th level to ♥♥♥♥♥ matchmaking like in wars.

    Bad idea. But the currently system is ridiculous also, especially for th8.
    I would just give you my situation to illustrate it.
    -100 search (waste around 60k gold). Around same amount of th8, 9 and 10. But, zero th7 and lower. I repeat, zero.
    okay, I accept it that I should not be matched with those th lower than me. After all, thats what supercell want, and I find it fair.
    However, how come i got bullied by th 9 and 10 at the same time? 9/10 of my defense recently is from th9,10.
    If the whole point of the matchmaking system is to protect weaker players from stronger ones, then why dont th8 players have that priviledge? Is that fair?

    Ok guys, any responses to what matters? Of course we cant be matched exactly the same as in war, but the aggregate offensive defensive trophies idea would work. And no, this doesnt belong in IFR, (yeah its an idea) but its not exactly a suggestion. Speaking more theoretically here.

    And guys, as you all know, a perfect matchup system will never happen in Clash. As evidenced so far.

    With agg off def, if you neglect defense, get raided until no tomarrow. If you neglect offense, you will not get matched with anyone you cant beat, for a while, until you meet your match. Then a process of advancement happens.

    And leagues, purposeless? No. There would no longer be TH10s in freakin gold III. They would have to move up for loot.

    Basically, this is a system in which it forces you to gain trophies amd advance the leaderboard.

    You are clearly in the "wrong" league for your TH level.

    You don't say what league you are in, but if at TH8 you are seeing no TH7s, and a fair number of TH10s, you are probably somewhere in the Crystal 2 - Masters 2 range.

    My 2nd account is a TH8 in Gold 2, and is seeing plenty of TH7s, and hardly any TH10s.

    This fella is spot on. Also, this should be in the ideas section.
