level 5 minions or max Valkyries?

I'm currently a near max th9 (defenses) and can't decide if I should upgrade minions from level 3 to 5 or get valkyries from level 1 to 4 first. Currently I use minions in my ballonian raids but also plan to include Valkyries (once upgraded) in GoWi attacks.

Since they are both th8 level, I would do them both, alternating between the two (i.e. minions then valks then minions etc). But I tend to max everything before upgrading my th.

Terrible argument, considering that 90% of level 1 troops aren't usable at TH9 and thus you can't use them until you upgrade them. Let's say you're telling a TH8 whose considering hogs or something else. He can't use his level 1 hogs, so he upgrades the other thing based on your argument. Congrats, you've now robbed him of being able to three star the vast majority of TH8s. It's not about what you use now when you can't use the low level troops, its about what you can use best if maxed.

Valks are very useful for war, so if you are war focused do the Valks. If you are farming focused then do the minions. And Valks are way more useful than the GoWiVa. In fact, I use Valks at least once every other war and I have never done GoWiVa, it's generally either GoVaHo or GoVaLo. I am also going to tinker with them for surgical hogging, using a Valk to tank instead of a giant as the giant will just stand and pound on a wall for the rest of the raid whereas the Valk will go on to tear stuff up.

Ick, hate alternating. Max one attack then max the next attack. No point in having every attack halfway when you can be as strong as possible with one attack and let clanmates attack bases that call for different attacks.

I add a couple of (maxed) Valkyries to my Gibarch .. it works, can't complain.

I would go with valks, they really shine at th9 and most people just dont know how to use them so unfortunately hate on them. Funneling them can be a little harder since you need to let the golem get a litter deeper into base cause of the speed of the valks. However when they are in the core a rage and a heal and they are monsters, will wipe the core and be at full life. Most people in my clan are switching to using valks at th8 instead of pekkas, tend to get a three star more consistently and you dont worry about time out.
