Alot of people have been coming here as a th8 complaining about th9's just destroying them and taking all their loot. They come to the forum for help.....just to be attacked by th9's here too. Decided to make this to help "survive" not stop, a th9 taking your loot. It's gonna happen but you can make it tougher for them.
At the beginning, it's gonna be tough. You are a shrimp in a sea of sharks. First thing is push up to high gold 1 and throw your town hall out, waay out. This will help get a shield because of the many snipers trying to get to Crystal for the gem bonus.
Get your walls to purple. Pink and yellow walls are a big welcome mat to come take resources. Once you do that, lower people will slack off on hitting you.
Start working on the splash. Once the mortar gets to 6, they can 1 shot lv6 archers, hurting the th9 offensively.
Build an "anti giant" base. Those ZZ Top giants can soak up alot of damage, especially if the point defenses are weak. Build some good funneling walls for them with spring traps along the way. You have 6 spring traps, placed well, is 18 giants tossed away, once again hurting a th9.
Farm in sessions and dump what you got. You have alot of cheap upgrades at the beginning. Yes, we want triple 6 ad's right off the bat, but that amount will put you real close to the cap ( someone can probably help out and tell what the amount you need to be at before you hit the loot cap), making you a target if you don't dump it.
I don't farm in long sessions. Just can't sit there because life calls. So, I will raid and sign off, raid and sign off, ect. People will say this is a no no if you want to upgrade. I'll raid and save up until I do get hit hard. At that point, I make a decision. Either I'll ride out the shield and let the collectors recover what I lost and start again or dump the resources on a cheaper upgrade.
Keep a builder free for the walls. Once some of your upgrades start taking 5+ days, you will need him to dump extra gold. When another builder gets close to finishing, start farming to put the current wall builder to work. Try not to farm too much without a free builder. Also, try not to save up all 3 resources at once. If you want to save DE, keep the other 2 resources as low as possible. Want gold? Keep the other 2 low.
This is what I've been doing and it's worked well for me. I became a th8 right after the matchmaking change so I know it's tough. I wish I had a solution for the Archer Queen but she's just unstoppable with some heal spells. Maybe build a base with every point defense on one side and you might kill her? Lol.
I hope this helps my fellow th8's protect their resources a little better. Like I said, it's going to happen so might as well except it but you can slow them down a bit.
