Hogs or Gowipe for TH8?

IMO, GoWiVa has the same problems as GoWiPe..Pekka or Valks get stuck hitting the wall after destroying the core while those back side defenses are firing on them, which is why GoWiPe is considered a 2 star...GoWiPe and GoWiVa would be good 3 star strategies if you can overcome these weaknesses somehow...

My goto war army at TH8 is hogs, but the base needs to be setup properly or I have intel on the GB locations.

If I can't determine GB locations or can't avoid or pre trigger them with hogs I'll gowipe with either hogs or loons on the back side. The decision for hogs or loons depends on the base layout. I'll pick hogs if the AD's are not in the core, and loons if the AD's will be killed by my gowipe before sending in loons.

If you know when and how to use these armies you will 3 star any TH8. Moving past drgaon attacks will only set you up for success at TH9.

Lightning one air defense then attack from the side with two left standing and easy three star. Really got boring then I had moved onto the many hogs variants, plain GoWiPe and the combination of air and ground.

Town hall 9 now and loving those lava hound attacks mixed in with the mini gowipe.

Hogs to L4, either for Mass Hogs, GoHo or backend Hogs for Gowipe.

Dragons don't work on upper TH8s any more

HOGS can take out around 80% of TH8 bases , and rushed TH9

but there's some really hard that need gowipe ^^

At TH8, I used both. GoWiPe was a definite 2-star strategy, but only sometimes you would get 3 stars (if you're lucky.) Hogs was a 3 star strategy at TH8 but still risky and could end up with a 1-star.

Safe option -> Gowipe
Risky but rewarding option -> Mass Hogs

I don't think there is any single attack which works on all bases.

You really need to have the troops available to carry out a variety of attacks, depending on what base you face in war.

I mostly use DragLoon as its more economic than a mass Dragon attack and better in some ways.GoWiPe is the most expensive alternative and an all hogs composition has many threats to face(Giant Bombs & Spring Traps being the main ones).With enough precision,DragLoon is much more reliable.

Hogs do run over spring trapstraps. Dragons cant take even 10% of th8s while hogs can 90%
