While I prefer hogs as well as plan to use GoHo for th9, what do others prefer? While I prefer hogs because they either three star or 1 star (I'll take that risk) while I rarely see gowipe able to pull the 3 star. What's your strategy? (sorry if this thread has been done before)

Most definitely hogs. Hogs are a superior strategy to GoWiPe, as it has more of a chance of reeling in 3-stars than GoWiPe since GoWiPe mostly gains 2-stars. Though, with a ton of practice, GoWiPe can be used to 3-star, but not as much as hogs. Also, I enjoy using hogs much more than GoWiPe. It's also great practice for when I'm going to use GoHo at TH9.

Hogs and DragLoon should be enough to 3 star any TH8 base you come across.

I would definitely do hogs but don't neglect your gowipe game either because both will benefit you at th9 with hybrid strategies such as goho gola.
Hogs, but upgrade golems for when you are th9.
