Didn't read all the replies but def have your TH in the corner for an easy snipe so you can get a shield. If you are not happy with your base my advice would be to take screen shots of bases you like while you are searching for attacks so you can "borrow" some ideas to tweak your base.

On a side note I think it's cool that you actually asked for tips instead of coming here demanding Supercell fix the game because you keep getting raided. TH8 is tough but before you know it you will be destroying them yourself.

Thank you all very much for your replies. Some helpful stuff!

So the purpose of putting the TH in the corner is to get a shield more often? I break the shield a lot because I want to play. I'll put it in the corner and see how it goes.

Here is what I use to raid:

    21 giants
    21 goblins
    60 archers
    1 healer

I have tried barching, but I just don't seem to get much. Those barbs are cheap and fast, but they can't take what the defenses dish out. I see people using spells with them but those are spendy too.

Another thing to try is only save one resource at a time. If you're sitting on a stack of gold elix & de you are asking to get hit, if you only have a high amount of one resource it isn't so tempting

Yes, the purpose of putting TH in the corner is for a "free" shield. About 80% of attacks on me are usually just TH snipes, although when my storages are full I usually get hit hard by Th9s a lot more often.

Definitely try not to break your shield unless you can play in a long enough session to make more than you will lose if attacked. It helps to to know when to play for the most loot. There are certain times of day you'll find a ton more bases to hit. if my shield is set to expire when I am asleep, I will always break it before I go to bed and raid a few times. That way I am hopefully raided when my collectors are empty and I don't lose all that loot too.

    2.25 million is pretty easy.
In one not very long farming session you can farm it.
    .
Maybe you attack, log off, attack, log off. This is why you get attacked and farmed a lot.

    Yes,
as you said, the exposed th is like a deal between two players, one gets trophies (and league loot bonus) and the other gets a 12 hours shield.
    .
Use a good farming base for TH8.
    .
If I were you, I would use 12 giants, 6 Wallbreakers and the rest barbs and archers (maybe 10 to 20 minions too).
It's a good army for efficient farming.
Most farmers don't count their troops (most of their troops), they just fill the barracks.

    Good luck.

Lets be real here. TH8 is the backbone of the economy and the game becomes a different animal by TH8. TH9 need a ♥♥♥♥ load of DE for upgrades so if you have 1k DE to offer with decent gold elixer offering your going to get smacked hard by TH9's. No defence i dont care how good it is will slow them down even with max walls and defence. Its just the way it is just like th8 wreck TH7's. Raiding then logging off does not work at this level you have to raid 2 or 3 times then log off to be in the positive or boost for big upgrades. This is how you play COC for the rest of your career from TH8-10. If you cant accept it this is not the game for you sorry. Juice

Mido, thanks for the hints. I'll try that troop combo. I don't make the loot when I go on raids because it takes me about 70,000 elixir to make my troops. Probably 40% of the time I don't even come out ahead on a raid, because I think I can do it and I fail to get enough.

There is a lot I don't know. I have watched some videos, but I might not be watching the best ones.

Thank you, Juice, for your reply. Still really like this game. I have to get past this sticky spot and learn to do better. Troutness and forgoodnessakes, thanks also. Getting a lot of good help from all of you.

I really would'nt use heavy armies for elixir raids. I always looked for those bases that kept all their resources in the core and surrounded them with splash damage. Just bring about 50 barbs and archers to create a funnel to get the king into or near the core. Let him distract the splash and feel free to reinforce him with a few giants and wizards. When path is open and most of the defenses were distracted, I always unleashed a horde of goblins, they did a great job of quickly cleaning out storages. For spells, either take out a hard to reach mortar with 2 lightning and blitz the other or use a heal to keep the goblins alive. This loses it's effectiveness on th8s so I'd gibarch if you plan to hit those.

As as for other things you can do, make your base not worth the effort to raid. Never have all your resources in the same spot. Unless he royally screws up, you'll never stop a th9 from getting some of your loot , but spread your storages and you can make it very difficult to get all of it. Also, if at all possible, try to only have large amounts of one or two resources saved up at all times; never all three. Mortars should immediately be maxed followed by wizard towers (those things are scary at lvl 6).

And before you log off, always make sure you always make sure you have raided for more than you can lose.
