Is TH8.5 Useless?

I see no benefit in this whole x.5 thing. You are an easy target for farming and an easy target in high level wars.

You would have to be in a clan with everyone x.5 for it to work out...

The benefit is a much more prepared offensive for the TH9 world ahead of you. You will have a better chance of finishing your heroes earlier by the time your base is maxed.

Yes, you kind of are a sitting duck to TH9 attacks in terms of farming. But this strategy isn't meant for the people who attack only once and get off immediately.

In war, if you get 3-starred, that shouldn't really matter at most. Most TH8s are 3-starred during wars, why does it matter if you're 3-starred and still have the weight of a TH8? Besides, trading in on being 3-starred for 6-stars earned from attacking in war is much better then being 2 starred as a new TH9 with xbows but getting only 0-1 stars from attacking.

A TH8.5 would: Max army buildings, Get 10/10 hero's, and max one war army comp before opting back in wars.

This is where you are wrong. A TH 8.5 would never have to opt out of war (save for spell factory upgrade).

A TH 8.5 would do everything you listed before adding xbows (going to TH 9.0). If you are opting out of wars until you accomplish all this there is no reason to do the .5 route as you simply skipped all the wars where you'd be a liability.

The .5 route allows you to war without being a liability.

I'm another who see the .5 thing as a waste of time especially 8.5. I expect my th8's to 3 star all other th8's and if they can't my th9's will do it on clean up.

Yes, 8.5 can be useful as a transitory phase to efficiently (war wise) go from th8 to th9 and have to sit out the minimal amount of time.

How I think it works

Start cc lab camp aq new traps new walls etc asap. Don't drop new defenses or xbows. Wait until u get 220 camps and maybe max hogs or loons or until u get some th9 lvl war troops. Then start new defenses.

What I actually did because I think th8.5 is silly. Yes I tske war seriously.

Dropped cc lab spell aq new walls new def (sans xbows). Got my camps and farming troops asap. Once I hit 210 capacity and cc finished I rejoined war. I was still able to 3 star similar th9s. (Sat out for about 1.5 weeks) . I dropped xbows within the first two weeks of th9... didn't hurt our war matchup... still 3 starring any th9 I was asked to. (Usually I would get the bottom one and then clean the top th8 if needed, as I was the bottom th9 at that time). After catching up new defenses I did all traps and other misc buildings along with pushing to champs and rushing xbows to lvl 3 (xbows didn't help any on defenses up there) all the while cranking out war troop upgrades. By the time I was ready to start any th9 lvl defenses (besides cannons) I had max hogs max loons golems lvl 4 hounds witches lvl 1.

TLDR: as long as you keep your offense above your defense you will do fine in war.

But you built your xbows so you are now basically a TH9, especially because of the fact Supercell increased the war weight of walls and heroes so TH8.5s were matched even tougher opponents.

Yes I have one lvl1 x-bow and one lvl2 x-bow but after 6 month in th9!
Even in the early th9 when i didnt have x-bow no th8 could 3 stared me in war or normal village.

0.5 means offense first with or without x-bow you are a 0.5 th if you finish offense and still have defenses to do. It doesn't mean you never should do defenses!!!
I finish all elixir upgrades then start defenses.
Now i have 4 builders on defenses and 1 builder on queen.

TH 8.5's = Noobs who are trying to cover up that they can't farm enough for the th9 upgrades.

Im TH 8.5, 6 months old th9. lvl30 king lvl23 queen, 189 lava walls!
But obviously I cannot farm enough for my cannons and mortars!!!!
I will reach 30/30 heroes and full lava before defenses which sadly i cannot farm for therm!

Nothing cowardly about it! If you want to keep warring and not sit out of war for 2 months the best way is to do 8.5! As it takes easily about 2 months to get a decent TH9 base ready to fight equals in war!

Sure you win and feel all fuzzy, but you're still terrible at the game and won't get better lol.


Edit: I've done multiple accounts at TH 7, 8, 9, and 10 and never had to do a "half base" lol.... that entire idea is just lols

All your reply says is that you have no life outside COC. The .5 is for ppl who have a life outside the game!
