I don't understand how level 6 mortar can oneshot a level 5 archer
Mortar does 9 damage per sec
Archer has 40 hitpoints but gets oneshot by mortar. How does that work ?

oooh, i was always wondering that... ty lol
As others have said, damage per second is different from damage per shot. Just thought I would add another example:
A level 1 x-bow does 50 damage per second.
A level 7 archer has 48 hitpoints.
But the x-bow does not 1-shot the archer. It takes 8 shots to kill the archer.
DPS is really confusing, now that I think about it. I can understand why new players might be confused about this. Supercell really should make it clearly without players having to do extensive research on the matter.
Wrote on another topic a few weeks back in 'ideas and features' area, adding 'fire rate' to statics (range, targets,...) would fix this recomer.
So it says for mortar eg:
So the math to calculate the real dealt damage is obviously.Code:Mortar (Level 6) *** Damage per second: 9 Hitpoints 650/650 *** Fire rate: 5 Seconds Range: 4-11 tiles ....
Just a 'damage per shot' won't solve it, upcoming question will be 'how fast is fire rate?'
Or changing to 'DPShot' and adding 'fire rate' would solve also, but makes it harder to compare defenses by missing DPSecond.
History is writtenby man who ride hogs.
Yes they should. I understand the desire to avoid putting too much information on the description of each defense but you really have to consult the wiki to have any idea how much damage things really do. Mortars are the single best example of where the DPS calculation falls flat and is basically worthless. I would much prefer they either told us damage per shot and rate of fire (which would be ideal) or damage per shot and damage per second (which would just involve adding a single line to the current descriptions rather than 2 new lines of information (possibly while deleting the current DPS in the process). All 3 would be best but I understand not wanting to crowd the information box.
Technically having any two of the three (damage per shot, damage per second, and rate of fire) makes for equally easy calculations (you are just multiplying or dividing two of the 3 numbers to get the final number) but I too would prefer rate of fire over damage per shot. Of the 3 I actually find damage per second to be the least useful, but I realize people find it the most useful when the goal is to compare the damage of various defenses.
