The guy who attacked you had 500 trophies less than you, so yeah, he had a HUGE offer on you. Just how e game works, can't do a whole lot to fix it

If it's too hard don't do it. You don't need to be so high in trophies and nobody's asking you to. Problem solved.

Yea but the 2 previous defenses are just luck x)
Any other defenses are between -15 for 1 star and -25 for two stars

At some trophy level (different for each town hall level) gaining trophies becomes a huge grind of hitting bases for 1 star or low trophy counts and hoping you get someone near your trophy level for a defense (so you don't lose too many). You are above that level for a th8 so either embrace the grind or drop back down.

Unfortunately, your actual attacking skill has little to do with your success in the trophy end-game.

A Th8 has no place in champion sniping people. The fact that a TH9 found you (not a revenge) and destroyed your for 38 trophies just show you that.

You got your gems, now go back to silver and forget about champion until you can defend there. Which should be in an other year.
