I'm in a clan that wars back to back. Most of our members just moved up to th9 and I was wondering is it a good idea to drop the xbows immediately or wait until I get some offense upgrades done first.
I'll be a th9 in a few days and need some help. If I do delay them, when would be it be a good idea to get the xbows?
I would say build them and add them to your war base, but hold off on upgrading them until most of your other defenses are upgraded since the xbows are heavily weighed in war matchups

Have your queen lvl10, camps max, one or two 3 star strategy and then put all new defenses including xbows

I do like the idea of 8.5 but does it affect our clan that much even I'm the only 8.5 in the clan?
It won't. If your clan is primarily focused on wars, I would recommend it. Get your camps, CC, troop levels and spells up before worrying about xbows. The weight assigned to your war base wont be much higher as an 8.5 than it was as a TH8.

If you war constantly, I would hold off on xbows until you have 1 decent 3 star strategy set for a TH9.
Xbows really add to your war weight and if your clan is strict about attacking your mirror, you may be matched up with a base that is much greater than your current offense can handle.

Woah, woah, woah. TH8.5 is stupid, ESPECIALLY if you're in a clan that doesn't even do it. It would be pointless you going down that route. If you have a good clan, they will let you attack who you think you are capable of attacking, whether this be max TH9 or new TH9s, regardless of where you are placed in the war map.
If you have to attack your mirror in war, I think you may be in the wrong clan, as that will never be a viable tactic, what with mismatches lately.
Nobody is advocating mirror strategy. Interesting you mention its a dumb thing to do...and also note mismatches. Connect the dots. Your clan is matched up for war based on the overall weight of those that are going to war. I know you know this but it seems to be worth mentioning again. If you have a bunch of newly upgraded TH9s, and the first thing they do is drop xbows (the single most heavily weighted item a TH9 has)- it boosts their weight and thereby brings in a heavier weighted clan to war against. All of the sudden you have those mismatches that you talked about.
Balanced upgrading is the best way to go. OP said most of her mates just moved to TH9. If they all put down bows without the offense to hit back hard, they will no doubt start getting run over in wars, and then come back to the forums complaining about mismatches.

my friend upgraded to TH9 , he just do the offense , he didn't build any new defenses , he always get a rushed TH9/maxed TH8 ^^which we can 3star easily
