I honestly love the challenge of th ten. I think the games endgame should provide enough complication to show a difference in planning and skill between players. It's hard to do that when everyone has been playing for years. I think coc does a good job. I hear a lot of players complain but it seems as if it's coming from players who have mastered a couple of strategies at eight and nine and are used to those strategies working all the time. Ten is a different beast. You can't be just a hog guy or a dragon guy or whatever anymore. You have to look at ever base and be versatile.

I warn almost every th9 to be mentally ready for the jump to th10. Honestly those first couple of months is a drastic change. You go from top dog th9 to bottom of the barrel th10. It's a hard pill to swallow for anyone who enjoys the game. Farming gets a ton better and the obstacle of infernos will always challenge you. If you use your logic for 3 stars at th9, transfer the % you get from war attacks at th10. If you 80-90% vs a max th10 you should feel more proud than 3 starring a th9.

I upgraded to Th10 around two months ago. Please note the key words - 'for me'. For some people, it might be heavenly.

Why do I feel this way?

    - Builders are busy for so long that I have literally nothing to do unless I go for wall upgrades. I have some lvl 9 walls and a few lvl 10 ones, and I honestly do not care for walls anymore. Anyone worth his salt ignores all but the outermost walls anyway, and the rest just fail. In almost a year of warring, I have seen just two decent TH10 being 3 starred. When people are struggling to get 2 stars on my base, it is just not a factor.

    - Infernos: These are probably the most fun-sucking defences designed in the game. There is just no room for error, whether you are trying to tank the rays with a lot of golems or using freeze. You miss a spell or troop placement by just a couple of seconds and you are doomed. Your whole game becomes managing infernos somehow. Every war attack feels more like a job than a game, to be honest. Attacking enemy TH10 in Champion was less stressful even though I had just a minute to plan.

I have been warring since TH6, and never did I have any problems in adapting to new strategies. From giant-healer to dragons to hogs to gowipe to golaloon to hogowi to even valkyries, I have tried everything and 3 starred equal bases with every one of them, along with the occasional failures. Even as a new TH10, I was constantly 2 starring enemies. But in a cruel twist, it is actually becoming harder to attack even though my troops, spells and heroes (lvl 22+20) are becoming stronger. I still succeed most of the time, but it feels too stressful.

Sometimes I wonder if I should just become a casual player, or just quit. Although quitting is unlikely because of the time I have already put in. Any tips for making war attacks more fun? Because I honestly do not need a second job. Is it never going to get better?

PS: The one positive thing: farming with these heroes is a breeze, even though they are rarely available.
IMO, they made TH10 way too hard to three star...three starring bases of the same level is fun for me but take that away then the game would be less fun...

A big problem I see is how fast your defense skyrockets vs how slow your offense truly matues. Infernos are huge 3 star blocks. But maxed heros is a huge help but also a Massive pain to ma

I have talked to a lot of people and seen a lot of videos. The general consensus among even skilled players seems to be that without fluffy bunnies 3 starring max TH10 is very rare. The defence to offence ratio is just too skewed. Just look at how much the DPS and number of defences increase while the upgrades that offence recieves are miniscule. Look at golaloon - no upgrades for loons and 500 more hp for hounds. Plus 2 extra pups, who by the way, mostly get shredded by the remaining inferno and all those xbows/tesla in the core.

The big boost comes in the form of max heroes, but here too you are at the mercy of the AI - the AQ especially has a tendency to randomly target a far off building. After seeing these kind of failures a few times, I just go for safer 2 stars. Why burden my clan with a failed attempt to get 3 stars when I can get 2 stars much more easily, and those 3 stars aren't ever needed in our clan wars.

My biggest gripe is with the design of infernos however - they make healing spell useless and also make it so that no low hp troop can get in their range. This really shuts down many many strategies that you could otherwise employ.

That is certainly a factor. The infernos can be maxed in just 31 days while each lab upgrade takes around 14 days. And heroes - well they take forever.

Idea: Actually read the thread your are replying to. Or else why bother replying?

I too rocked TH9 for a long time. I maxed everything including hero's to 30. I absolutely loved wars at TH9. I decided to move to TH10 for the challenge and it was time.....and I totally agree with the OP.

3 Starring is virtually impossible. The rest of the issues are highlighted well in this thread. I hope SC can balance TH10 some so that the strategy/challenge/tactics at play at TH9 can become a part of TH10. 2 starring TH10's in war with limited troop options is boring.

.....so I too have a mini account at TH7 to get to TH8 so I can hog again. I miss it.

Maybe that's what SC wants, who knows.

So when you attack, you have to focus on how to take out the infernos in the most strategic manner or in the quickest manner. It's pretty lame.
How different is it than focusing on the AQ when going for 3 vs a Th9?

It is not possible for anything to be "harder" than TH7 wars, because a TH7 with lvl2 dragons, a BK, three spells, and 200 camp space should never ever ever fail to 3* an enemy TH7. Ever. You may as well just need to hit a "3* please" button and that's the end of it.

TH7 is the one and only place where offense is so ridiculously powerful compared to defense.
