I am involved in a lot of dragon war attacks. So many people claim they are dumb can not be controlled and just mass dump them. We have good luck on even th8 anti air bases by funneling them in, thinking ahead, preping. I would say about 1 in 5 of these raids end up with bad/good luck. Typically in my experience its either all good or all bad. When its all bad, usually was my error and not the AI of my minions

    Yes^

Luck is a small % of a win factor in my opinion. Mostly attacking someone with a higher TH lvl or stronger defense than your offense.

In all reality battles are won with good prep/strategy. If you send in the right army the right way luck is usually a very small %.

If you really think about it, the potential for luck involves whether random numbers are used
within the game machanics. If there isn't a random component, then everything that occurs
can potentially be pre-determined from the initial what, where and when actions.
However, at more than a few degrees of inital complexity, people are not capable of
the physical accuracy or mental acuity required to derive an exact outcome based on
their action. So their input actions are based on experience. The final outcome in such
cases is thus more to do with skill than luck.

If you get three stars on a first attack there is some luck because you weren't certain where all the traps were but if you get three stars on a second attack it was all skill.

    Depends on the player.

You can generally spot two types of players by the armies they take and how they usually deploy their forces.

The first type of player will generally go with a standard army which is generic, place all their troops within the first 30 seconds of the attack and leave nothing in the tank, this type of player strongly relies on luck.

Second type of player will take a few extra troops for clean up later, this usually requires a bit of base analysis to see whether back end loons/hogs are better or whether 10 or so archers/minions/barbarians are required or a combination of both. This player makes their own luck as they have their plan B/C/D.

Mostly skill. A little bit of luck, but a lot of skill.

Luck is when preperation meets opportunity. Understanding your troops and how they work as well as base designs and how those troops will interact in those bases will make you look and feel "lucky".

There is no doubt a luck element involved. That's always going to happen with the games AI.

But skill is certainly the most important factor. Good planning, taking the appropriate army and timing deployment/spells well is what you can control; and what will be the most influential factor in battle.

    Luck is a factor !

For more skillful players, the skill ratio to luck is like 90:10

For less skillful, the skill ratio is like 60:40

    For n00bies, skill:luck = 30:70

No matter how skillful you are, luck still plays a part.
