    Attacking: Skill vs Luck? 🎲

So I have been having various conversations with friends / clan mates and I start to wonder more and more how much luck plays a role in attacking success.

We talk a lot on here about advanced army configurations, there are hundreds of videos laying out detailed attack strategies but a lot of the time it comes down to the thousands of unpredictable AI decisions that control every troop and tower decision in each raid.

Looking back over some old footage and I think I see more and more 3 star raids that could have been 1 star, if a couple of troop movements had gone differently, later on in the raid - beyond any level of original troop placement and funnelling etc.

It makes me wonder that if, with the best will in the world, a lot of our raids simply come down to a tangled web of chaos theory probabilities?

Maybe start looking at why those troops went the way they did. I mean if you're going to go down the rabbit hole you may as well find the bottom. See if there was a split second when a building went down and a troop re-routed. See if the reason the troop(s) went where they did because it was logical. Maybe start planning for the luck (Forcing towers to go down before dropping troops) and you'll start seeing more three stars

Luck plays a part im sure , as well as practice and skill .... I've watched videos and practiced a lot ... Still some go right and some go horribly wrong .. It's frustrating and fun at the same time

Luck can be a huge decider, but good attackers do well for a reason, and it certainly isn't because of luck that the top players are where they are.

A skilled attacker creates his/her own luck.

The majority of the 3* doesn't come down to luck or skill but something called sandbox mode

It's all down to luck. You can't determine what's in the CC. You know roughly where your troops will go, but you don't know if the PEKKAS will wonder off, or if the Queen moves to the side. No skill involved, apart from spamming a load of troops down.

The one thing that is down to skill is spell placement, as these can be placed anywhere at anytime and the outcome of the spell is determined by the player, not the AI.

Echo006 is soooo wrong. There is luck factor in game, but its more about skill. I've seen countless times other do well with same army comp and another fails. Its not luck, because same ppl always success. It has lot to do how you deploy troops, timing and also what army comp you use. Have to check what type base enemy has.
