I like the way troops / buildings being introduced atm. With its hype, it needs to be a little bit OP. So people would try them out. Next update, balance them new troop / building.

not sure how you think the dark spells are OP?
Poison can kill lower troops sure but dragons and hounds cannot, and quake can cause some gaping holes but is balances at 4 spell (2 reg) slots. - you could argue that lvl 1 and 4 take down zap walls is OP, and that could be addressed....
The good old days was the the true age of OP, nerf, BUFF, nerf - extensive research, re-release, NERF, NERF.....

Golems were never OP. Neither were Hogs. When hogs came out nobody used them. It was a few updates later where they changed their targeting to def only and then they became OP. Someone worked out the whole heal spells strategy on them and the rest is history. Hounds were never OP and they are the most recent troop to be added. I think they had them pretty much right and I think the only change they have made to them was reducing pups hp slightly.

I'm actually very impressed at how well SC has balanced this game. I bet it is extremely difficult to predict what even a small difference in stats can have when millions of people test, experiment, and exploit every new change or addition to the game. At least they listen to the opinions of the players of the game which all too often are poorly articulated, knee jerk, unmeasured reactions to changes in the game.
