Seems reversed. Wizard towers do a better job protecting resources since they're really effective against barch. Xbows are better for war than wizard towers.

Xbow, no question. It will add a little more war weight, but totally worth it. No defense does more work then your xbows. Best defense you will have, especially in war as a th9.

I'd pick WT as a farmer too, especially at higher levels it's deadly against farm armies like Barch/BAM.
