It is the people who pay for gem's choice though. They don't have to buy them, but they do. Supercell then shouldn't have to give things back to them. If you bought an apple from a shop, you wouldn't expect them to give you a free apple a week later.

I think the problem is that people expect 1 gem boosts all the time. The game can take a long time to play and upgrade things, hence people wanting 1 gem boosts. We get a weeks boost for a few gems, and then people start asking for a one gem boost for a month!

So yes, regarding what someone said earlier, Supercell did not need to give us the boost. So thank you.

The equivalent in gems is just over 2000 gems per player. That seems pretty generous to me considering they owed absolutely nothing.

Not really because most player wouldn't be boosting without the 1-gem offer, so the loss for SC is only on those who would have gemmed anyway and paid less for it (minus the 1 gem that lots of people did use). Not sure it has a real cost to SC, and at the same time, it reinjects quite some loot in the economy and make people happy.

On the other side you are right, they didn't even have to give a week. The reason people appreciate it so much is because it only happens once in a while. Give it full time and people will start complaining about their collectors not being big enough because they are too quickly fully filled, and thus they get raided ;-)

I am one of those players that usually never spends money on a game like Clash of Clans. However, during this boost week I have been making so much that I burned through all the gems that I had and even purchased some more so that I could gem my lab to finish some research and start more.

I don't think a month long boost is really a good idea but having these kinds of boosts can get players like me to actually spend money.

Yes. Gemmers give money to supercell. In return, they receive gems. Transaction closed. Business is done.
You don't go to a shop and buy a loaf of bread, pay for it at the till, then come back 6 months later and say I bought some bread, give me some ham and cheese so I can make it a toastie.
Sales don't work like that.

You buy the product, you get the product.

Yes, the consumers played a part in getting them to where they are.
But there was also some brilliant game designers, community managers, marketers and many others who played a role in making the company successful.
None of it means they owe us anything.
