Number of trophies algorith

How are the number of trophies you win calculated? It seems to be a complete joke and totally at random. I have reached 3700 trophies and any remaining fun in this game has been completely sucked dry by the hit the next button game that it has become. Why were those last 73 top level bases with level 40 heroes only worth 2 or 3 trophies and now this one completely at random is worth 23? It is a joke, when an army takes 2 and a half hours to raise for even the possibility of one starring any of these top level bases then how can it only be worth 3 trophies?

I really am ready to quit the trophy hunting and just do my 2 war attacks every war as it really is no fun what soever any more. If a base has level 10 walls, max defence and level 35 plus heroes then it just cannot be worth 3 trophies. The algorithm for calculating the number of trophies is just plan broken.

Trophies are completely based on trophy difference. When you are high in trophies you are much more likely to find people below you (which are no worth many trophies) then above you since there are less people up there and most of them are online or shielded all the time.

I can't play this game anymore. The fun is gone. If I am going to have to hit the next button 200 time just to see my first 10+ trophy base then it is just plain pointless in playing anymore. It is just war matches for me from now on.

Having never been there I can't personally comment but most people will agree that high trophy levels is an extremelly frustrating place to play (many would say broken). Up in high 4k you will see clouds for an hour then a trophy offer of a couple. Repeat 5 or 6 times in a 6h session, go on defense hope you aren't worth a bunch and repeat for another 6 hours.
