Can't seem to get balloonion farming right (th 9)

I know there are plenty of people who farm with balloonion, especially in masters and higher. For some reason, I can't seem to do well on a storage raid with this, regardless of what spells I throw down. I don't have the haste spell yet, but plenty of people use this comp even before haste spells existed, so that can't be it. I've tried from 20 loons rest minions to 32 loons rest minions, and none of them seem to work any of those maxed th 9s(complete with lv 3 xbows pointing up), typically the lv 7 ad just destroys my loons way too quickly.

So far, my most success has been with 2 loons picking off all the outer towers first, then picking off exposed loot with minions, but when I decide to throw the rest of my army to attempt to grab the storages, it's really hard to get 3/4 of the storages, sometimes I don't even get 1/2, and that's when I throw all my rage/heal spells which I've also tried different combinations.
And yes, when I dump my whole army I do have my minions right behind my loons.

Loonion farmers sure seem to work on my own base but that could be because my ad's are still lv 6.

I can't farm right with ballonion too
Perhaps because I don't use rage spells and lv2 minions or any other reason

Loonion for farming is not very good imho. Pushing getting one star works ok.

For farming use barch or bam - possibly throw in 6-8 balloons with those armies to take down splash defenses.

I have to agree somewhat with this. Though my case is Lavaloon. I just can't get that strategy right, the loons die so quickly you don't even know what happened to them.

All my Lavaloon fails always happen when i attack max th9s.

What lvl are your loons? I only ask as I'm a new-ish th8 and doing ok farming in gold 1 with loonion (28 lvl 5 loons, 30 lvl 2 minions, 2 heal, 1 rage, 1 poison). I tend to use the heals relatively early and the rage if needed if I'm down to about 10 loons and there are any AD/wiz still covering storages.

Maybe try picking on TH8s for now and build up slowly through new TH9s until your hitting maxed ones with ease

I am a th 9, lv 6 loons, lv 3 minions, lv 5 heal, lv 5 rage, lv 10 king/5 queen. And I will not rely on only hitting th 8s, my previous 'farming' army was a giant/healer/wiz that is almost a guaranteed 3 star on any th 8, maxed or not, and easily gets 1/2 the storages + de from a max th 9. It takes about the same build time and cost as a loonion minus the de. Build time is not an issue for me as I'm simply too lazy to farm hours on end, and I have already maxed most of whatever I want to max.
I am trying out loonion because 1. it works a LOT better on the occasion I find a collector raid (giant/wiz/healer is solely made for storage raids) and 2. to practice air attacks in a sense, and 3. I heard it is one of the preferred farming armies for long build times which suits me.

By 'not very good for farming', are you referring to the cost/build time of the army? Or are you referring to the actual strength of the composition? Unlike most of the farmers here, I really don't care about the build time since I raid like once every few hours. Stuff like gowipe is still too expensive on resource, though, I still need de to upgrade heroes. I'm farming in crystal if it makes any difference.

With a good loonion, you really need high level minions to back up the loons. I find my minions doing as much work as my loons do, sometimes more. When they get vaporized by an air bomb is when things start to go south.

I've seen people who are learning to use loonion, and deploy their loons very tight. Not gonna work, you need a SPREAD. Also seen their attacks get shut down by the defending clan castle. Always lure!

Build time mainly but also the elixir/de cost. In crystal I think a GiBarch or GiBam or even barch with 6 loons would work better.

If your facing lv 7 air defences give up unless you can afford to use 3 spells per battle

mostly at th9, you can loon fairly well at master 3, as long as the AQ is down, the xbows are down, and air def is lv 6 or lower, just use rage spell once

Also, dont let your loons clump up together, though it may be hard, loons in packs of 2-4 can do much better

i say barch in masters for 50% while looking for extra de in storage/collector thats on outside

2-3 barch raids per hour with 500 de bonus + 500-1200DE on the outside can rack up to 4.5-5.5k per hour, depending on luck. Sometimes you can see 2k de on the ouside with pump! usually i average 1.5k-2k de per raid with barch and that translates to around 5k an hr, meaning if i raid say 12x a day which isnt that hard with barch, it averages at 20-24 k de per day +4800 DE for a total of 29k DE per day

29k de per day will allow me to make 210 DE per week , meaning i will, as long as everything goes plan, have my archer queen upgrading till 30 (max at th9)

TDLR: barch is more effective at master 3 and low master 2
