Considering a raid takes 3 mins and the army then takes an hour to cook, I try to enjoy the nexting part as 'playing' and I try and look at new layouts and stuff , bit like window shopping

I'm not sure that I'd call it enjoyable but I do get some satisfaction out of it. Nexting, or the thought process that goes into deciding whether or not to hit Next, is actually a skill that doesn't get talked about very often. Knowing what bases your troop comp can be successful against is almost as important as knowing how to attack.

I guess it's like playing slot machines in a way, wondering if that next 'next' will be the big one.

Only if there's a HUGE loot raid at the end of it.

Well, yeah, I see your point, but I don't play CoC to feed the family, so . . .

Yeah, that's sort of what I'm coming to realize, too: how key it is to learn to distinguish between bases you can beat and those you can't.

Like my older brother once told me, "Don't pick fights you can't win."

I love nexting. I get to see how people play the game, and when I finally find a base worth attacking a sense of accomplishment goes through me. Especially when I find fat collector raids

And no. Im no middle age old man, so you can throw your stereotypical trash in the bin and forget about it.

If you never attack a base "you can't beat", how can you know if you can beat it or not?
