They should make it so :

Masters and up - 1 gem Barracks boost
Crystal & below - 1 gem Collector boost

You must be new to the game.

buildings take 1/32nd the time of heroes and walls.

but hey, keep grinding those tesla upgrades lol

Walls take 0 time to upgrade. I have never once dedicated a builder to walls. I do put excess in to walls when upgrading buildings though which has got me all Legos and a few lavas (I'm a newish th10)

Unless you are trophy pushing it isn't. Barracks boosts increase demand on the supply.

Simple economics says that is bad news.

I hate when SuperCell do barracks boosts and not resourse ones.

Totally agree.

Every time there has been a barrack boost, loot dried up instantly.

However, every time there has been a resource boost, clashers swim in loot.
