With early focus in TH8 being dragons which is carried over from TH7, I would probably go:
    • level 4 hogs then;
    • level 5 wizards then;
    • level 5 balloons and while you are doing that go for golems asap.

This will allow you to start off with massed hogs then progress to HoLo and GoHo which are also staples in TH9 and will help your progression far more.

Added to this heaps of TH8 bases are upgraded to face dragons, so early to mid TH8s will have upgraded their air defences as a priority, which limits mass dragons effectiveness pretty early on, it's not to say they are useless, they are still powerful but just not as consistent. Also added to this, dragons really aren't staples at TH9 so you are probably better off getting out of the dragon phase as soon as possible.

    Lv4 hogs
    Gowipe

Getting drags up is one single upgrade and although having stronger spells will help it and th9's able to feed you max loons for backup is handy, lv3 drags will destroy all early and badly designed th8's.

After that, hogs up to lv4 and wiz to lv5 is 3 upgrades, and on the right choice of base a properly executed hog attack is devastating. It's more effective than gowipe regardless of defence levels, but depends on certain layouts.

Finally, gowipe is the strongest all round war attack that will become effective with every single upgrade. However it will take longest to level up fully (gowipe plus wall breakers, heal and rage, plus king too for maximum effect) so won't be as useful to you early on. It also takes a lot more skill to execute for three stars.

There are other more advanced mixed troop combos but for now this is what you should be aiming towards.
    This exactly

    Thanks. Well explained.
Its not that I have problem accunulating Dark elixir but its just that I want my King to be level 10 first(started level 7 2 days ago). Just a few more qquestions:
Can I try GiWiPe for two stars on max or mid th8s?
    Are level 3 hogs good?

Level 3 hogs are okay, they will at least survive a single level 3 giant bomb. Level 4 obviously is better but you have to work with what you have.

I preferred WiPe (wizards and pekkas) when I was at TH8, you could also try HoWiPe instead of GoHo to save some DE. My WiPe combo consisted of:

5 Pekkas (including 1 in CC)
    20 wizards
    10 wallbreakers
    2 rage, 1 heal

If I were to make any changes to that, I would probably take a poison spells, take out 2-3 wizards to add in some archers/barbarians/minions to help clean up at the end.

I will start Golems today so I wont have access to hogs. But how Wipe works? would you please explain in depth? It seems like a good one.

I couldn't get any more 3 stars on my opp. bases in wars. I ran mass dragons with such ease at th7. But being the leader of my clan I feel bad that I couldn't get 3 stars or even 2. 1 stars dont win wars. I am ranked 2nd on war map so almost everytime I have to take on a max th8.

My hogs are level 2 and my dragons are level 2. I dont have enough Dark elixir to start hogs 3 tomorrow. I couldnt start my Dark barracks for Golem tomorrow 'cause that will leave me vulnerable to level 6 ADs with my level 2 dragons.

So what do I do to gain bigger advantage soon for war? Also I have 3.2 M elixir to start any of the lab upgrades.

    Thanks in advance
Yes I feel ya, I had that feeling too when I was a freshie th8...Level 2 dragons cant take on a level 6 AD...bite the bullet for 10days (upgrade of dragons to level 3) plus unlocking of golems...either opt out of war or fight challenging battles against a th8...

level 2 dragons, however, can take on mid level th8s with th7 level defenses (arc towers level 8, ad level 5) but is definitely hard and not much room for error...

    btw try gowiva too...

WiPe works pretty much on the same premise as GoWiPe. Generally I would drop two pekkas on one side and then drop some wizards to clear some outer buildings to create a funnel for the BK and the other pekkas, then follow up with wall breakers to bust through the first 2 two layers. I would rarely lure the CC and would use the CC to pull the pekkas to the core, drop the poison and a rage to dispatch the CC quickly.

It's extremely important you clear the outer buildings before deploying the rest of the pekkas and BK, otherwise they will wander off and end up circling base, which will leave your wizards with no tanks.

i were using dragons until i got hog 4 ^^

gowipe is a great strategy , it works against mid_th8 for 3 starts with low lvl pekka
    but u need pekka 3 & wizard 5 to take down advenced_th8 ^^

Nicely said. I would also like to add that while gowipe is 3rd on the list of upgrades, gowipe troops will be very important at th9, while dragon usage will fall off quickly, and hogs will be less effective than at th9 unless used in surgical hogs or some hybrid strategy.

Apart from dragons, I would focus more on ground attack troops over air, as those are the most effective troop combos right now after th8.

    --------------

For the record, I was never that big on hogs or dragons at th8, especially once I was more established as an 8 and especially after they messed with the dragon AI. Both seem to do fairly well with crappy war setups and lower level th8s, but once you get to mid to high range 8s, the drags get annihilated by well placed AA, and hogs end up being a 0-1 or 3 star attack. gowipe is a far more consistent 2-3 star attack when executed properly.

Also, you can take 2 witches in your castle for gowiwipe, which ive 3 starred max 8s and lower end th9s ( lvl1 xbows) before.
