This is, so to speak, a remake of this awesome thread I saw. However, that thread died in September 2014, so I decided to make a new one.

Another thread that's the same as this also exists in the General forum. I have it in both places so that I can attract a larger audience and help out more people That thread is here

This thread is a place to ask your questions about loot and get them answered without creating endless, unnecessary threads everywhere. You'll get your questions answered by experienced farmers who are very familiar with the game. I am by no means an expert or a pro, but I consider myself decently knowledgeable in the area of farming (from experience and from browsing the forum).

Nice thread, a one worth remaking.
I am a TH9, currently at 1300 trophies using BARCH to farm gold. I have almost maxed defences but my heroes are lvl 10 and 11, and my walls are all skulls with a few Legos.
Once I've maxed defences I will be farming DE, and any gold and elixir will go into walls.
Where and how should I farm this DE?

Since you've got your defenses maxed, I think you should go up to Masters (try M3 first and see how that works out). You will be able to comfortably farm gold and DE with loonion, and if you have some gems and time to boost, boosted loonion is very fast (12 minutes or so to train). The elixir cost is pretty large for a loonion army, so mostly you'll be upgrading walls with gold. As for DE, it's very, very easy to come by in Masters. The minions will cost 500-600 DE, depending on your loonion comp, but the league bonus and the amount you should make in raids (frequently 4000+ per raid including 1000 DE league bonus) more than makes up for that. I have seen many late TH9s up in masters loonioning and they've maxed their walls and heroes nicely.

You might want to try to mix in some lava hounds and do LavaLoonion for some extra power. Use them sparingly though; they're expensive. As for spells, carry 2 heal 2 rage, and a poison for CC troops maybe.

Another thing you can do in masters is snipe for the league bonus (120k G/E and 1000 DE). I racked up quite a bit of loot doing that a couple weeks ago.


All that is if you want to do walls and heroes. If you want to crank walls as fast as possible, stick in mid to upper gold leagues (1500-1900, best spot changes day to day). You won't be making serious DE here though.

Thanks a lot for the in depth reply. The balloonian sounds like a good plan, however I think I would have to boost as I am too impatient to wait half an hour every raid. Would bam work in masters too?

BAM and Barch are still usable in Masters. I haven't personally tried it but I know many very good farmers have done it successfully. Another hardcore farmer I know (he had 1.2 billion GG at end of TH9 a couple months ago, probably capped at 2 billion now, knowing how fast he farms) liked to do unboosted loonion because although you have to wait a long time, you get to use heroes every raid. That was his reasoning, but obviously, you'll make tons more loot boosting and attacking 4 times as often.

By the way, you said half an hour each raid. The loonion farming comp I use is 24 loons and 50 minions. That takes 48 minutes for the loons to train up (minion training time is like 25 minutes, so doesn't matter). So if you boost 4 ordinary barracks and one DB, you'll have an army every 12 minutes. If you do less loons and put some hogs in (to get an exposed AD or two), training time will be even less. If boosting, boosting SF may be a good idea to have spells ready often. Boosting royals not necessary unless you're a reckless hero-user (like me!); you should deploy heroes once most defenses are out of way and you have a nice easy path to resources.

One more thing: when loonioning, helps a LOT to have air troops, especially loons, in the CC. So you might wanna get more of your members to start loonion and donate eachother air troops. Ground troops in a loonion raid aren't much of a help.

Crystal 3 Bam. 1 Barrack Barbs and 3 Archers with 20 minions per raid take every snipe that is given + hit all de storages in the second / first layers then end battle. I don't see why everyone is boost this boost that everywhere as it's really unnecessary.

100% agree with you Aphro. Boosting a BAM comp is absolutely unnecessary. It will just be a waste of gems, I mean you don't get much faster than one raid every 8-10 minutes with BAM

Hey there, I currently have 108 purple walls, 127 skulls, and 16 legos. I want to grind all my walls to legos, where should I farm gold and lix? I feel like I'm not finding enough loot recently... Btw I always go for collectors, should I start targeting storages also?

Your english is perfect, don't worry about it

BAM is a very good army camp for TH9, so stick with that. I have about 120 legos and rest skulls. I'm farming a really good quantity of G/E and upgrading 10-20 skulls to lego a day. So I think your problem is simply trophy count. Gold 1 and Gold 2 are good according to most TH9s lately. I've raided 30M gold in the last 2-3 days in mid-gold. I start at 1800 trophies, then keep raiding until I slowly go down to around 1500 trophies, then snipe back to 1800, rinse and repeat. That's what I recommend to you.

Since BAM is such as fast army comp, be cautious in your use of the queen (I'm being a bit of a hypocrite, I'm reckless with heroes). Use her when there aren't defences in range or something like that; you don't want to wait for her to heal. Ideally, you should use her every raid.

One more thing: pay attention to time of day you raid. Some times of day are crappy, and others feel like heaven. clashofclansforecaster.com is reeeeally great for this. It shows what time of day will be best for finding inactive bases, and you can time your raiding sessions with the times it says are good. It has helped me a lot.

All the above is concerning collector raids. I have only been raiding collectors, and it's been working fine. You have to be patient. I recorded next amounts for my last 107 raids, and my average nexted was about 28.95. Sometimes I have gotten a great collector raid on the first base and the highest I got was 140 nexts. Just don't give up; there is ALWAYS a raid there. If it is consistently taking forever to find a base, time to change trophy range.

If you want to do storage raids, there are quite a few rich TH8s in Gold 2 and Gold 1. Train up some GiBarch (8 giants if you're very skilled, or 12-16 if you're not that experienced using giants. 8-10 wallbreakers. Don't have to use all your wallies each raid. Extras are there just in case. The rest barch, maybe some goblins, and if you want extra firepower, wizards). TH8s are fairly easy to take from with our OP lv6 giants

Anyway, I hope I helped, and good luck finding the loot and getting those legos done. More than anyone else's advice though, the best way to learn and find the best trophy range is to experiment by yourself. It feels like a pain but you come out a better clasher. Clash on!
