To complete my skulls at TH8 or move up to TH9? That is the question.

A little background: I'm pretty far along in TH8, all defenses are maxed or nearly so (last Tesla will be maxed in 8 days, a few archer towers are still lvl9, and my regular bombs are still lvl4). Most of my offense is nearing max too (max camps, D barracks, 2 barracks maxed, 2 at dragon) and troop upgrades are pretty far along (B:4, A:5, WB:4, Gob:4, Gi:5, W:5, Healer:2, Drag:3, Pekka:2, Min:2, Hogs:4, Valk:2, Gol:1, LS:4, Heal:5, R:5, P:1, EQ:1). BK is lvl9 and all collectors/storages maxed. 5 builders, two sitting on their butts. Lvl 88, 260+ war stars, I farm casually in Crystal 2-3, and war 2x per week and can often 3x my opponent using either dragons, hogs, gowipe, or a variation. Love tactics, etc. I'm a co-leader in my clan (Rush Raiders) and my clanmates depend on me to lead and do well in our wars.

33 walls are skulls, the rest are purple... which means about 100 million in gold to get them all to skulls. Prior to the update, I would have absolutely slugged it out and upgraded my walls before thinking about going up to TH9. But now that walls count against me in war matchups, which means that staying at TH8 will actually hurt my clan offensively by continuing to build up the defensive walls.

I'm wondering whether I will serve my clan better by jumping to TH9 after I top off what still isn't complete and forget about getting the walls. Plus, I suspect it will start to get very boring in a month or so once all I have left to do is bang out walls and I continue to look longingly at the new toys and firepower one can get in TH9.

So the question is whether to slug it out and max everything before moving up, or finish the core stuff/forget the walls and move on up.

Opinions? Why/why not?

This is a game not chores.. you don't need to or have to upgrade everything to move to another TH level, why would you max out goblin if you know for sure you won't use them once you are TH10.

Rule of thumb, as long as you have max war troops and farm troops you can move to another TH level.

I never care about maxing walls but i am starting have max level walls with my 10 months old account (rushed TH on video on my signature. ign: Mist, now in Rushed One clan)

I see no reason not to max absolutely every last thing in the base including walls, aside from the fact that such task may take a while.

I'm sitting on TH8, the only things I have not maxed yet are: Lv2quake, and about 50 or so purple walls left to become skulled. Hell, I even saved up for Lv10 king and had upgraded lv2 golems.

I have no intention to start considering TH9 until everything is done. The way I see it, the more I do now, the easier time I will have hitting TH9, even if the difference is microscopic.

Maybe not all walls need to be maxed and you dont need to max all troops, but I really think you should at the very minimum maxing ALL the defensive structures.

When you are bored of any TH level, I say move up to the next.

It's a game, have fun.

Walls are important but with hogs, loons, minions, Jump, Quake, you can have fun laughing at them as you hop / fly over them or destroy them.

Mate I've been updating from purple to skull and now happy I have a very solid inner core of skulls. But I'm no longer spending on ore skulls because of the earthquake spell. They just blow them away as easily as they do purple. So long as you have purple and perhaps an inner core of skulls to protect your th, upgrading past purple is a waste of resources you can spend on defences.

My skulls are continually being blown away by 4 quake spells, purple is sufficient for those that use it given most th 9 and 10 have it. Skulls won't improve on purple against quake spells.

I'd suggest you to finish off all skulls before moving to TH 9 and meanwhile keep upgrading all the troops in the lab.

The only question is are you prepared to enter to the real game?
until TH7 coc is just a tutorial and nothing special. TH8 is just the primary school. the start of the game to practice drags in the beginning of th8 and gowipe in the end of th8. TH9 is the university which you can get the master of clash degree from in the end!
TH10 is the Phd degree!

So for example farming/warring is very easy at TH8 specially DE farming. I upgrade my BK non stop to 10 and did 200 skulls in 30 days in TH8 then rush to TH9 with max offense include golem 2. you just need 150K de in TH8 but in TH9 you need 3.5M. see the differences.
That is huge amount of DE.
So again you should ask yourself if you are ready to jump in the ocean?

No, it's not necessary at all, however, is it helpful? Yes.. It's your personal choice tbh, play the game your own pace and enjoy it!

Unless you have just started your last building upgrade and your builders are in danger of unemployment, don't even consider upgrading your townhall. However, if you have reached this point, then upgrade that sucker and fill your storage. Lab upgrades will eventually catch up once you hit the long 14 day upgrades and de grind for maxed heroes.

Walls doesn't really matter at TH8 anyways. There are so many ways to get through walls; hogs, air attacks, jump spell, earthquake spell, or even a raged pekka will bypass the skull walls like cutting through butter.
