Should I even bother with hybrid bases when grinding trophies at TH8?

So I got into the 1700s and its now one of those deals where you get attacked very quickly if you go offline. I have a maxxed th8 base, other than a single tesla tower and mostly purple walls (skull core).

I'm finding that if I leave my TH out, some guy will snipe it and leave. If i try to protect it, I get wrecked by a th9 for 2-3 stars and double the trophy loss or more. Plus I lose more resources. Since it's so maxxed out, people that would actually struggle with it don't seem to want to attack.

What's the point?

As you climb into Crystal and beyond, as a TH8, you're going to be juicy picking for most TH9 that are also trophy pushing. As a nearly maxed TH9, I can afford to defend my TH as I can still win defenses up here in Masters 2, but a TH8 will not have the strength to defend against most players up here.

It's wiser to have an exposed TH, take the 1/3 trophy loss, and keep marching along. Just make sure you attack as many times as possible each time you break your shield or it'll be very difficult to make continued progress.

Can't say exactly how it is for a th8. I'm a th9 and I've had my town hall out for the last 1500 trophies, served me well overall, might have moved up a bit faster in the beginning from trolling but I like it as it is. Moving up steadily!

Just throw the th out. There are so many th9s that will run you over your best bet is hope a th7 or another th8 snipes you before they find you.
