Josh gave me an anti-drag war base. What I mean is anti-drag cannot be avoided completely in TH7. Whatever your base design is, there is and there will surely be players who can 3 star it.
But that's the same for pretty much any attack strat at th7, thats the thing people in my opinion don't realize when they make threads like this - A th7 can be 3 starred by any attack strategy (Obviously any "war" strat not a silly one) by a smart attacker, but dragons are just easier to do it with.

I did actually recently see my first ever fail by 10 lv2 drags against a maxed def th7.
It was a horror of a face roll attack.
That is the one and only time.
I'm going with the: no such thing as th7 anti-drag base, as I've only ever seen that one fail, and boy was it ugly.
New building hp and sweepers do seem to have rather killed th7 3 starring weaker th8s with drags.
I used to do it regularly. With confidence on 4-4-4 ADs, with a hope on 5s. Now seemingly very very unlikely.
TH10s with 50+ hero levels, 9.5s with 40+, silent noobs<> needs you!

1.) No it was not. It was only garbage that he thought was anti dragon. Maybe some of the noob anti dragon bases with everything on the outside for those that cant create a funnel. Even a good dragon attacker with lvl3 dragons a th8 cant 3 star a decent th8 base layout with maxed ads. Since the update dragons got a huge nerf and ads 5 are what ads 6 used to be.
2.) 3 rages are ♥♥♥♥. You either take 2 heal one rage if all ads are in the center (2 rage 1 heal does also work) with loons in the cc or you take 3 lightnings if the ads are spread out.
3.) Even dragons lvl1 at th7 are a free 3 star if you are skilled, but how many skilled th7s are there that are not mini accounts. I think dragons for th8 are perfect. They are good for new th8s if they are maxed. After that you need hogs or GoHo.
At th7 I think they should nerf lvl2 dragons back to lvl1 and make lvl1 even weaker. This cant be done on the defense side because th8s will have them as well (3 ads would be too much for a th7), but maybe reduce hp/dps of dragons lvl1 and 2. 15% less hp instead of 10% would be nice and on the other hand dragons lvl4 and 5 can still need a buff, because they are still useless except for warbases.
That would be hilarious to see those bases, especially given the new air sweeper too.
There no way even a half-ways decent TH 8 will get 3 star'd by dragons. You'd have to have one terrible base for that to happen.
I have max TH7 (on way to TH8 as I write this). I am about 50/50 on 3 starring TH8s in war. 3 lightning spells to one of the ADs pretty much guarantees two stars. The 3 star seems to have more to do with the randomness of the dragon flight pattern. Cannot comment on whether the bases that I have 3 starred are ♥♥♥♥ layouts. Some are for sure, but others seem quite ok...
This guy gets it. Without video evidence, a th7 did not 3 star a max th8.
Let's see this base OP. Post a screenshot so we can more accurately discuss how or why your TH8 got rolled by a TH7 with level 2 Dragons. I've never seen that. I've seen Th7 getting rolled by level 2 dragons, maybe a brand new TH8 with TH7 defenses, but I have never seen a maxed TH8 get 3 starred by level 2 dragons in any of the wars I've been in.
