Just make it so hopper in the middle of the war gets war banned for one month. That will stop most hoppers.
Give strict punishment to idiots.

Consider a situation where a dbag leader puts some poor sod in war against his will when he opted out. Guy wants to leave because who would want a leader like that? He gets branded for something the leader did.

I have mentioned before that I joined a clan that took great delight in inviting new, obviously Asian based, players from global and then racially abused them on the chat. This happened quite soon after I had joined the clan and early on prep day and it was the leader and Co's enjoying the sport. I made my feelings very clear and left them to it. Do I deserve to be branded for that? I think not.
There may be scope for three strike rule in a given period but otherwise people need to just suck it up and move on.
A reminder for this idea is that it is not targeting those who request and leave, or those who leave outside of war. Those players are only slightly annoying. This idea targets those who are put in war and then coinsciencely choose to leave during war without making their attacks. Doing that is on a level of meanness that deserves a consequence. When a player hops during war, it affects the entire clan. And the issue is not clan leaders who put players in war when they don't want to be in war. That player can still attack twice. The issue isn't clan leaders who are mean to their members. Players can leave that clan outside of war. This is about members who are recruited in good faith, who are treated like any other player, who are put in war in order to get some stars, and they leave to another clan to do it again. Is the "Letter" dramatic? Very much so, yes! Is hopping a problem, absolutely! This idea, again, doesn't affect any element of game play. But is does make people who hide in the shadows whose only goal is to mess with others visible. I can see where people who like leaving during war may have a problem with having that taken from them. Too bad. They, at the very least, need to be seen by people who don't want a hopper in their clan.
I highly agree. We have been picking up members from this board. In the last 2 weeks we have had 7 do this and 2 were actually serious. Some just leave when u start war others dont fight then leave and then we hD this D bag screen name doctor.... who joined fought but never put a troop out asked for a dragon. Came back and said he disconnected. We like no problem. He loled and goes cya and left. Now this D bag was i our clan for like 5 days wIting to do this. My question is who has that little of a life that they can spend 5 days just mess with people. What we have done is 2 things...we made a strict policy if someone has a cool down we insta boot them and we give them our own 2 war cool down. So if someone wants to wait 6 days to pull a prank more power to them but this an issue super cell shouod address and it should be easy to address. Most of the what ifs ive seen in this thread were silly because they would even apply to them.
If you need to leave for legitimate reasons during a war, why not say so before leaving? Makes you sound less like a jerk for leaving your clan hanging, especially if your lack of attack cost them the war? Or better yet, mark opt out of war. If they put you in any way, then it's on them when you leave. Clan hoppers are like people going house to house for food but not bothering to clean up after their meal. So rude...
Supercell won't even tell you how many times you've lost a raid, you think they'd be willing to create a "Scarlet H" for Hoppers? I'm confident in my personal assertion that this will never happen, ever. Not unless a major philosophy shift occurs at Supercell.
It's one thing to have a policy against negative statistics.... then there's this idea of branding someone a Scarlet H?
100% opposed to this idea.
TL;DR (it all)... Er... welcome to the forums! You've presented an idea, but once that idea is out there, others are free to add to it and make revisions as much as they like. It's no longer "your" idea, it's the communities idea (and if SC implements it, their idea). Instead of trying to imply ownership of the idea, perhaps you should instead quote folks you disagree with and make reasonable statements that others might agree with.
So wait, you're opposed to this because you think SC won't do it, or because you believe it to be a bad idea on its own merits? Surely the revision I suggested (minus the 1 point for simply leaving and joining clans over and over) would be reasonable: after all, it's not displaying a statistic to anyone, and only if a player repeatedly joins a clan, opts in for war, and leaves after prep day begins without using their attacks would they get demerits leading to the "badge" appearing.
Leader: Sparrow's Order (#9VLVRCQG); Recruitment Thread; Facebook
When we get a new recruit, we always put them on a 1 war probation period. They have to sit out the first full war and then they will be in the next. I make this clear right away. I haven't had a problem with anyone leaving mid war since I implemented this rule.
