Sure it's a widespread issue....which indicates there are a whole lotta unthinking players. "I attacked using xyz, that didn't work so I'll try ABC. That didn't work so I'll try mno. Nothing works, the game is ruined".
The solution is to ask "why?" and " how do I get around this change to my advantage?" Those that figure that out are cleaning up.
I'm tending towards a very positive view of this recent update ( now that I have the AQ figured out). I'm losing less loot, defenses are holding up very nicely, and my attacks are cleaning up.
I've found the Haste Spell to be a clue. Speed kills. I haven't touched my Golem since a few days after the update. Too slow. Same with most balloonian attacks against my base. I use 20 archers and 9 barbs in my army..that's it. I build now for speed. I haven't upgraded to the Haste spell yet, but it's on the " to do soon" list ( I use Rage and Jump, Poison if there are CC welfare troops. Lightening is shelved and a Healer is much better paired with my AQ than the Heal spell).
Speed kills. If you can't figure it out from there, leave your storages outside the walls for me.
