For me, the best army composition to farm DE as a TH8 was Loonion. Taking extra Loons in the cc and Rage+Poison, I could easily 3-star any TH8 and get all the DE, without using much because I only took 15-20 Minions.
It's kinda slow to train though, and it uses up a lot of Elixir, but if you're sitting on full pink storages, it shouldn't matter.
