DE Raiding at TH8 with Earthquake

I'm an almost max TH8 and have been using 4 earthquakes to break into the center of bases to get at their dark elixir.

I deploy my troops as a pseudo gowipe with giants taking the place of golems to save on de. I funnel with wizards, a pekka and my king get to the core and under rage take the de. The whole attack takes an hour to train and my usual targets are bases with 1.5- 2k de. About 95% of the time I get all the dark elixir from th8s and have been able to get elixir from mid lvl th9s. So a profit of about 1-1.5k de per raid.

I've use wallbreakers to get to the core but they normally don't get deep enough if there are a lot of compartments. Earthquakes are more reliable. I've used barch but prefer this attack, what do you guys think too expensive or has anyone found a better attack?

This is not at all effective (you can train this for overnight army tho), but using EQ while DE farming is not worth it. thats like 440 DE every raid, you might as well do loonion w/o EQ for same result but more profit, since minions will cost less.

Just use gibarch with a couple wiz maybe, that's good enough. And remember, you can still pound on drills and TH7s.

I originally used this attack to get back at th9s who raided me and stole me de, and most of the bases i raided had a lot of compartments and my wallbreakers couldn't get far enough. I disagree that it isn't at all effective, if I profit 1.5k de per raid then I believe it is effective. Perhaps its better to say balloonian is more effective. However, I have used balloonian and I will admit that I've raided bases and gotten 1k de from them, but sometimes the minions don't path right or someone stacks air bombs in the core (I do), and the air sweeper wreaks havoc. My argument is that the EQ spell opens up a hole leading straight to the de storage and when I create my funnel my king and pekka have no trouble getting to the DE storage.

I've gotten quite good at this attack and at this point its basically a sure thing, balloonian is a bit to iffy for my liking. I have done gibarch but using that I couldn't attack mid th9s and some higher th8s, where a lot of the de is. I'll try balloonian again but I've had more success using earthquake. Any tips on how to better use balloonian are appreciated though.

I need to point out that there are some raids where I don't use the earthquake spells. If a couple wallbreakers get me to the de storage then i can save the earthquakes for another attack. I only use the earthquakes on bases where there are too many compartments for my wallbreakers to get through.

GiBarch is the easiest and most efficient way to farm DE storages
    Early TH9 | Level 99
    GG: 367m | EE: 300m | HH: 811k | SOW: 40m
    War Hero: 344
    Walls: 29/250 Legos

GiBarch is indeed a solid farming strategy, I have started using barch to funnel my pekka and king into the core rather than wizards, and on bases with exposed storages GiBarch is enough to get to them without any spells, maybe one. Now lvl 5 giants vs a mid level th9 with xbows and a lot of walls or a th8 anti-giant base with well designed funnels and buffer zones make this attack lose a bit of its luster. It has been my experience that giants don't last long if the wallbreakers don't get through and the giants get hung up on a wall, and in my opinion it's too easy for wallbreakers to get wiped out or blow up the wrong wall.

My position is that using earthquake spells to clear inner walls makes an attack like GiBarch more effective against higher level bases. Using earthquakes lets you avoid funnels and wallbreaker buffer zones by opening up a 9x9 hole that leads straight to the de storage from a side that wallbreakers would have great difficulty busting open, of course the trade off is 500 de for the spells.

I will restate that the earthquake spells aren't necessary for every raid. I raid with a farming army (plus a pekka in cc) and I find poorly designed bases with easily accessible storages. The point of the earthquakes is that when i find a tough base with 2k de I don't have to skip it because using earthquakes negates wall level and opens a path straight to the de. This makes for a fast and easy core breach. Something that might not have worked had I not had them, and if you would have skipped it otherwise having the earthquakes was worth it because you walk away 1.5k de richer.

Agree, I'm using EQ for raiding right now. I'm a near maxed th9, just need walls and 1 xbow to lvl3. Today alone, while casual raiding off and on, I've made 6 million gold. And that's with my AQ down for upgrades. 20 giants, 6 wb, rest archers and 2 heal with 4 EQ and 1 poison. Works great!

I walk away with 1-2K DE + a win every 24 minutes doing GiBarch, I classify that as pretty easy and efficient..

And you are TH9. Giants, Archers and Barbs can all be 1 level higher than his, and you get 20 more spaces.

I have both a TH9 and a TH8 account (and a 2 day old TH3 one), and with my TH8, I am doing pretty well exactly the same as the OP. I find it works well for a TH8, much better than pure GiBarch with the troops available.

And like him, if I can get away without using the spells, I do.

My TH9, It tends to depend on whether my AQ is available. If she is, then I use loonian plus healerqueen.

If she is upgrading, I tend to go more with something similar to the above, though with my higher level troops I more often don't use the EQ.

Crazy using that amount of DE to raid for DE. I farmed both my heroes to max and I hardly used a drop of DE in my armies to do it. Why would you make your raids less profitable?
