To be honest most CCs are pretty useless now. Before the update there was a chance that a CC of witches/wizards/archers could make a very bad attacker fail. Now as these weak troops are useless we are left with high HP troops which have always been useless. Dragons, valks, balloons, hounds - they are all no more than a mild inconvenience to a raid and will cause a fail once in a blue moon (maybe not even that often).

Poison is actually quite useful for a hound in the cc, as you can lure it out and bust it with 2 archers, 2 wiz, and your aq. when it busts, drop poison on pups. make sure those troops are in a very tight cluster or else the poison wont be able to catch all the pups within its radius

I am a TH10 and use max lavahounds mainly. In recent wars I have experimented with dragon and max balloons.

Right now I am using (TH9) one dragon, one balloon, one wizard, and one archer.

We are all using a dragon, it and the hound (not a fan of CC hound) are the only troops that cannot be killed by level 1 poison which can attack both ground and air.

I consider doing dragon + valk but the valk cannot attack air and I still want at least one max wiz in my WCC because the DPS is just too much to pass up, even if he only gets a shot or two/three in, he's worth it IMO.

We have guys using a drag and 10-15 archers in hard-lure bases, as well as a dragon, one wiz, and then archers, or a dragon and two balloons.

Our current opponent is very good, lots of goho and some golaloon and straight lavaloon, really nice matchup...but they have a lot of hounds in their WCC's and frankly it's kind of nice because they aren't very dangerous and I especially like how really easy it can be to lure a single unit. Just get a troop in CC trigger radius and bam, CC is fully lured just like that.

As a GoHo attacker what I hate are CC's with loons that I have to draw all the way out and kill, using up time, to make sure they don't end up following a hog pack around.

    I'd use goblins,

helps outrun the poison enough to massacre ground troops

One of my friends had thirty goblins and the attacker used GoWiPe,

Golems didn't even reach a fourth of the base, and he completly missed his poison spell (Five goblins got posioned)

Most of the wars I've been in since the update people have clearly never read the description for the poison spell and try to destroy buildings with it so I still give my clan witches and archers.

We've been using dragons and filling the remaining spots with loons. A lot of the people we're warring against have still been using wiz and archers. Which is quite comical watching them melt from poison.

    Interesting

I came here researching CC compositions because we have been experimenting after the update as well. Dragons are more and more common in our wars now, I like (from a defensive standpoint) how slow they are - high HP and DPS. The lava's definitely hang the queen up but I have not been luring if I know there is a lavahound in the CC.

On the flipside, does anyone have some insight as to the best treatment for dealing with lavas? Usually, I just meet them in the middle somewhere and let wizzies / AQ kill. I've just been waiting until they pop and drop a poison on the pups, as someone else mentioned in the thread - but it does cost you a few extra (and sometimes crucial seconds). Anyhow, any other strats you all have found useful? I was thinking lure at least out to the perimeter - that way you don't have to fight it while being bombarded by defenses...

    Thanks!

If your CC is hard to lure, try troops with different movement speeds, such as arch, witch, even goblins. They spread out and they will hopefully hit the gobs when they first come out.

My best war CC (for TH10) is 1 Dragon, 1 Ballon, 1 Wizard, 6 Archers

The Archers is for spam, to confuse and make it harder to trap all troops from CC fast enough
The Wizard have the damage against ground and air troops and the splash can defently do some good
A Ballon when someone are doing Air raids and later are using Heroes... Also the high damage, low speed and the look-effect works quite well
The Dragon is of course for the hitpoint bomb, high splash damage and fine HP makes it annoying against Poison spell, to be followed by a Dragon aren't as funny as being followed by skeleton, especially in a ground attack...
