"I'm Maxed out TH x except"

Everybody can max out th8 completely [troops (also the one troop you never use], spells, defences, king, walls) with a little effort.

Maxing out TH9 is a completely different beast, even if you came to TH9 from a maxed TH8.

Maxing defences takes 5 builders about 6 months.
Maxing troops (all of them, also the ones you don't use) takes about 6 months.

IF you are a master DE farmer and can keep both of your heroes upgrading constantly they can be maxed at level 30 in 6 months. That is 6 months without ever using heroes in war even once. This is not realistic to most players.

The question is: Is it quicker to get 3-4 million DE or 1 billion G/E ?

Yes.. Maxing defences and troops at TH9 is the easy part.. maxing out the heroes and getting those Lavas are where the th9 play time is.

TH9 will take 14 months to complete, to _really_ complete.

Clash of Clans is not a coin up Arcade game .. it's a long term commitment :-)

That estimate is pretty spot on, give or take a month. With my second account I went to th9 the second week of July lastyear. Right now I have 5 hero levels left, one more leafblower to level after the curent finishes and all the dark spells left to upgrade, that in mind I'm looking at probably mid August to be fully maxed 9.....althoughI haven't done the actual math on the dark spells yet.

I'm one of those "maxed but"

lab finished except the new spells that we just got and the level 5 dragon (should start him this week-end)
def finished except the new blower that we just got (going to level 4 currently)
other buildings all maxed (dark spell factory level 3 in 3 days)

heroes level 25/25
walls level 8 (100) and 9 (150)

I'm maxed not because I don't know what to do with my resources. But because the only place it can go is in walls (elixir and gold) and heroes (DE).

Think of it all you want, a truly maxed TH 10 is miraculous. 250 walls at 4M each is 1 billion. Most players haven't reach a full billion yet after 3 years of play. Let alone 2 billions needed to max a TH10. I won't play an other 2 1/2 years just to max walls. No way.

As for level 40 heroes, while they are nice, the 7 days upgrade time makes them unreachable for most player that want to use them daily.

I've put over 150k in DE spell upgrades because I don't care about level 26-27 heroes.

So I consider myself maxed and I'm sure anybody that find my base in farming consider my base maxed.

Same thing could be said about TH9. When I see somebody with 4-5 idle workers upgrading heroes and walls, I consider him maxed. Even if he doesn't have level 10 walls or level 30 heroes.

You are falling into SC trap when maxing your walls because it will only slow your progress down. Most of the TH9 maxers I know quit the game before reaching full level 10 walls and level 30 heroes. Just too boring to do.

Well it's important but I know for me personally once I have nothing else to build I'm moving up to TH9, no reason to sit on full storages for months waiting for lab upgrades. I don't see the point in letting builders stay idle.

Sure someone could say I'm a high tier TH 9 but does that mean all the defenses are maxed but hero's and walls aren't or does it mean I have a couple defenses left and still have to finish hero's and walls?

Also why people say the "Maxxed 9 except..." is because its quicker. It would be like someone saying I'm finished with all of my homework except math. Rather then say every class you're done with, it's easier to say the one you aren't done with. It's the same for clash too, I'm maxed except hero's and walls is easier then listing every defense.

However, you shouldn't be saying your completely maxed unless you can't do anything else at that level.

I consider myself a maxed townhall 9 because my defenses are maxed and my lab is maxed. I think heroes and walls are overlookable (personal opinion)

Tbh I wouldn't mind that, even if I spent 1 year not upgrading anything I still wouldn't mind. I could attempt to make it to the leaderboards or something. And during that 1 year I could try out different raiding technique and stuff. I could also take 1-2 weeks off the game knowing it would not matter too much.
And no doubt during that 1 year my clan would have lots of wars and I could get a ton of stars and also level up a lot.
And also no doubt many new updates will be released which I could happily try out.
And during this time why not try and make my own clan, a lot of these things will be hard to fit in if I rush my TH and I am struggling to get all my buildings back to high levels

No. He never specified what he has maxed so that's not true. He only said th9, so what he has maxed is max for th9, that's it. If you think that means everything then you aren't maxed unless you have all decorations including the ones that cost gems, and you would also need to have hit the level cap and have done all achievements that you can do. Otherwise you aren't maxed, apparently.😜

The dictionary defines the term maximum as "the period of highest, greatest, or utmost development." If there is one building, hero, lab upgrade, or wall with an upgrade available at any TH level then, by definition, the base is not maxed. There is no beating around the bush about it in my eyes. That's the definition. If you want to argue that concept then take it up with Webster's dictionary.

I completely agree with you but saying that you're "A maxed TH(x) except for (y)" is technically accurate, they're not lying :P (Most of the time)
